Middleton Update
February 27, 2025
Dear Middleton Families,
I reguarly include Staff Shout Outs in my weekly staff emails and at our month staff meetings, but I would love to include some shout outs from Middleton families. If you have a shout out for a Middleton staff member, please click HERE and fill out this brief form. I will share these in an upcoming staff update or meeting.
As you've probably read in previous emails, we have a new event coming up in April that we are calling Around the World at Middleton. (See details in our January 23rd Middleton Update.) So far, we have 14 families signed up representing 12 countries (Australia, China, Czech Republic, India, Japan, Jordan, Laos, Mexico, Palestine, Peru, South Korea and Tonga.) If you would like to share your cultural heritage with our community, we'd love to have you host a table. Fill out THIS FORM to join, or feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have. We'd love to have you join us.
Also, tomorrow is an optional school spirit day: Fun Sock Day. All Middleton students are invited to join in the fun.
Sincerely,
Natasha
Food Drive Update
Thank you to everyone who donated to last week's Ducks vs. Beavers Food Drive. We were able to provide over 570 items to Helping Hands Food Pantry! All of these items stay in Sherwood to help our community. Duck Fans pulled out the win with 391 total items donated. Way to go!
National School Breakfast Week
National School Breakfast Week celebrates the importance of a nutritious school breakfast in fueling students for success. Studies show that students who eat school breakfast are more likely to:
· Reach higher levels of achievement in reading and math
· Score higher on standardized tests
· Have better concentration and memory
· Be more alert
· Maintain a healthy weight
Nutrition Services is celebrating by hosting a raffle contest! Next week, each student participating in School Breakfast will be entered into a raffle drawing (limit one entry per day). On Friday, we will draw the winner of this year's prize; a $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble. Happy National School Breakfast Week!
February Highlights
OBOB
Last week was busy with OBOB. Twenty teams of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students competed in battles all week, answering questions about this year's 16 books. Our winning team, "Two Stories and a Novel," will move on to the Regional Tournament on March 8th. ALL of our teams worked so hard. Good luck to our winning team!
Staff Appreciation Week
Our staff was spoiled during the first week of February. THANK YOU to our incredible parents and PAC members who decorated doors, delivered coffee, prepared lunch, dropped off gifts, planned fun activities, designed t-shirts... the list goes on and on. We truly felt like superheroes around here!
Juggling Assembly
On the last day of January, Middleton students attended a very fun assembly. Not only did we get to see some incredible juggling and unicycling (and juggling while unicycling), we learned about gravity, inertia, centripetal force, inertia, and more. We were highly entertained! Since then, some grade levels have been practicing their juggling skills in PE. While we aren't yet quite as good as the presenter, we are on our way!
Horseshoe Hop
Middleton students (and parents too!) danced the night away last Friday night at our Horseshoe Hop. Thank you to everyone who set up, made cotton candy, sold pizza, and danced! It's fun for our kids to get to have these shard experiences. Thank you Middleton PAC!
100th Day of School
Yesterday our kindergarteners celebrated the hundredth day of school. All activities were related to "100," and they dressed like hundred-year-olds. One student even came with a miniature walker. They are quite the cute bunch of tiny elderly people!
Biztown
No pictures yet, because Biztown is finally happening tomorrow. (It was originally scheduled for our snow day.) It will for sure be a February highlight. Have fun tomorrow fifth graders!
