We Need Your Help With Attendance!
Dear Bear Families,
We are asking for your help as we work together to improve student attendance at La Vernia High School. We know that life happens, and there are times when students need to be absent. At the same time, every minute a student is at school and in class matters, and consistent attendance plays a big role in student success.
There are a few simple ways you can partner with us:
- Encourage your student to get to school and class on time. Being present and ready to learn each day makes a difference.
- Provide appropriate documentation when your student is absent. This helps us accurately record attendance and ensure we have the information we need.
- Please limit lunch checkouts when possible. We understand that appointments and other needs come up, but students who check out for lunch often have difficulty returning on time, which can result in missed class time or an absence.
Our goal is not simply to improve a numberβwe want our students in class, learning, participating, and making the most of their opportunities each day. Attendance is a team effort, and we appreciate your partnership and support!
Thank you for helping us encourage our students to make being present and on time a priority. Together, we can make a difference!
Go Bears!

La Vernia ISD is proud to announce that our Primary, Intermediate, Junior High and High School campuses have been awarded the Purple Star Campus Designation from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). This honor recognizes our districtβs commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
The Purple Star Campus Designation is an award given by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to Texas districts and charter schools that meet specific criteria for supporting military-connected families. Each fall, TEA awards the Purple Star to applicants who meet the following criteria:
Designate a campus-based military liaison who must:
Support military-connected students and their families.
Provide professional development opportunities for staff members on issues related to military-connected students.
Create and maintain an easily accessible webpage with information for military- connected students and their families.
Implement a campus transition program that includes:
Introductions to the school environment and processes.
A student leader or ambassador program, supported by a campus-based staff member.
Organizing and hosting newcomer social events, guided tours of the campus, and accompanying new students to lunch during their first week of school.
Offer at least one of the following initiatives:
A resolution showing support for military-connected students and families.
Participation in the Month of the Military Child or Military Family Month.
A partnership with a school liaison officer to provide opportunities for active-duty military members.
The Purple Star Campus Designation highlights the hard work of our dedicated educators, counselors, and staff in ensuring that military-connected students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially. As we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to continuing our support of military families and enhancing the resources available to ensure their success.
