Sunshine & Smiles at Lake Elmo
Principal's Message
Greetings Lake Elmo families,
This week we all took a deep breath and enjoyed the routine of school. Students and staff are feeling great about diving into learning and enjoying the predictability the school day brings. I visit each classroom at the beginning of the year to introduce myself and read a book to set a positive tone for the year! This year our book is Collaboration Station.
We had fabulous discussions about how a school is not just a building, it is the people working together for learning. Our goal is to work together to create a respectful Lake Elmo learning community.
This week we’ll continue building our routines and relationships as well as practice more of our safety drills (Fire & Hold) using our Standard Response Protocol, more detailed information can be found below. If you want to know how we explain the drills to our students feel free to check out this Loom video I made for our students!

Google Presentation (same information that is in the video)
Next week we are ready for you, you can join us at lunch! You can come into the office to get a visitor pass, you MUST have a state issued ID. Just a warning: the lunch room is a crowded place. With our new individual seats at tables it is a tighter fit for adults. We have a few more guest tables on the way.
Take care,
Gina Doe, principal
Carpool Drop off and Pick-up
The volume in car pickup and drop off is greater this year which is causing some slow downs for all and a different parking lot design is giving us some challenges. Having said that, pickup and dismissal are getting faster each day!
Help by following our Parking Lot Etiquette
Pull all the way forward: Fill every available space along the curb so more cars can unload at once.
Have a visible pick up tag!
Use the passenger side: Have kids enter and exit only on the curbside facing the school.
Be ready to go: Have backpacks, lunches, and coats gathered before you stop. Say goodbyes before opening the door.
Stay in the car: DO NOT get out of your vehicle to help with bags unless the school specifically asks you to do so. Park if you need to get out to assist your child.
Put the phone away: Keep your eyes on the traffic and off your screen.
Observe traffic laws - merging, only going out signed exits
Looking for something to do after school?
Community Education has fun classes to keep kids learning and engaged when the school day ends. And the best part? They’re all right here at Lake Elmo! From art and STEM to D&D and theatre and there’s something for everyone.

Snack Donations
Every child deserves to have a snack when they’re hungry. We’re collecting snacks for Lake Elmo Elementary to keep on hand for students who forget a snack or whose families may not be able to afford one.
The snacks will be distributed to teachers, who can provide them to students as needed—quietly, conveniently, and without any child feeling singled out.
If you’d like to help, you can purchase snacks from our Amazon list and have them sent our way:
https://a.co/0cgGKkUF
Every box, bag, and contribution makes a difference. Thank you for helping us make sure no kid has to learn while they’re hungry.
Please bring NUT FREE snack donations to the front office!
Get Involved
We always love our Lake Elmo community members to get involved. This year we are hoping to have a classroom parent representative for each teacher. If this is of interest, please reach out and let us know! Everyone is welcome to be part of the PTA. Contact us: lakeelmopta@gmail.com
