Looking Ahead

The team would love to see the same enthusiastic student support, especially at Centaurus, as they push for a strong finish to the regular season. Let’s go, Yotes!
Hockey Closes Out Regular Season

- Goal Scorers: Arjun Dhanoa and Jake Oullahan each found the back of the net to secure the victory.
- Star in Net: Goalie Ben Zelio was stellar, recording 22 saves on 23 shots, helping the team edge out the win.
- Game 2: Monarch vs. Regis (Loss, 2-6)
- Goal Scorers: Zachary Sanner and Anthony Skul each tallied a goal for the team.
- Goalie Effort: Josh Ringoen faced heavy pressure, making 26 saves on 32 shots.
Varsity's Season Ends on a High Note
Despite the tough loss to Regis, the Varsity team had an outstanding regular season, finishing as the 2nd-ranked 5A team in the state. With this impressive achievement, Monarch earned a first-round bye in the playoffs
Next Up: The team is set to play their first playoff game on February 25th or 26th against the winner of the matchup between the 7th seed and 10th seed teams.
Congratulations to both teams on a great regular season! Best of luck to the Varsity squad as they head into the playoffs. Let’s keep the momentum going!
A Busy Week for Girls Basketball Wraps with Senior Night
The Monarch girls' basketball teams played their last home games of the regular season this past week when they hosted Niwot, Fairview, and Riverdale Ridge.
On a cold Tuesday night, Niwot brought their fundamentally sound program to take on our Monarch girls' basketball program. The JV game started the night and got stymied by the Niwot JV team's ability to move the ball and score from the outside and the free throw line. Even the WNBA stars know that sometimes the ball just does not bounce your way and this is what happened as the Monarch JV team lost to Niwot, 12-44.
The Monarch girls' basketball varsity squad came out strong and capitalized on their superior skills and strength from the tipoff to the final buzzer. The Niwot team's focus on fundamentals and impressive free throw percentage was insufficient to overcome our Monarch varsity team's smart team play. Sienna William chalked up another double-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds and Ginger Milot dropped 17 points to help their team defeat Niwot, 61-43.
The fans packed the gym on Thursday for Senior night when Monarch hosted Fairview. The crowd brought great energy and the Fairview teams came out ready to play with nothing to lose. The JV game was exciting as the teams were well-matched and exchanged buckets for much of the game. Even though our Monarch girls' JV team came up short in the end, the competitive drive and maturity were evident for all 32 minutes.
The varsity game was a similar show. Fairview's record might have led people to believe that the Monarch girls' basketball team would blow Fairview out of the gym. Quite the contrary. The stellar fan base was treated to a close game for three quarters thanks to Fairview sophomore Chloe Hickory who had the night of her life. In the end, the Monarch girls' varsity squad showed grit and determination with each player contributing to a 44-31 win.
After the JV and Varsity girls' basketball games against Fairview, seniors Savannah Weiss and Nick Nelson were honored by their families, teammates, and student body for their immeasurable contribution to the Monarch girls' basketball program.
Before Savannah's high school basketball career was sadly cut short this past August when she tore her ACL, she was an offensive powerhouse, averaging 17 points per game in her junior year. Her contagious positive attitude and dedication to the team are evident in her presence and participation at each and every game this season. Savannah will take her skills to the collegiate level when she plays at Wooster College next year.
Nick has been the Monarch girls' basketball manager since his freshman year. Tirelessly and with intense attention to detail, Nick sat on the bench next to coaches and charted stats during every game. While this task is very important, when players are asked what Nick "does" as manager, they reply "he hypes everyone up". Nick can hype better than anyone else!
On behalf of all involved, we want to thank both Savannah and Nick for being so awesome and for being an integral part of the Monarch girls' basketball family!
After such a memorable senior night, our Monarch girls' basketball teams and their diehard fans demonstrated incredible motivation and determination as they showed up for the match-up against non-league competitor, Riverdale Ridge on a snowy Saturday afternoon. Although Riverdale Ridge's teams and fans were aggressive, our Monarch girls' basketball teams brought their athleticism and played strong and cohesively. Varsity kicked off the afternoon with an intelligent game plan that utilized every bit of our talent. Our girls defended very well and played smart team offense but fell to 13-8 after the 29-47 loss.
The JV game was super exciting as both teams outscored their varsity counterparts. The fans could easily see the benefits of all the work our JV(and Varsity) teams and coaching staff have put into practice every day. The JV team pounded and sprinted, guarded and launched as they put up more points in this game than any other this season but fell short in the 39-52 loss
Monarch will take their show on the road this week for the last of the regular season games. On Tuesday, Monarch will travel to Silvercreek High School to take on the Raptors with JV tip-off at 4:00 and Varsity tip-off at 5:30.
***Please make the short trip to Centaurus on Friday night to cheer on your Monarch girls' basketball team during their final game of the regular season. JV tip-off is 4:30 and Varsity will tip off at 6:00pm**
