Message from Mrs. Tremps
Dear Brandywine Families,
As we close out the first quarter, I want to thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s learning. Our Badgers are truly blooming every day! October is filled with exciting opportunities, and I’d like to share some important updates with you
Parent-Teacher Conferences – October 17
Conferences are a wonderful time to connect with your child’s teacher, celebrate growth, and set goals together. A few tips to get the most out of your conference:
Bring questions about your child’s academic and social development.
Share insights about your child’s strengths, challenges, and interests.
Focus on strategies that support growth both at school and at home.
Collaborate on clear goals for the next quarter.
Reminder: October 17 is also an Online Learning Day for students.
Upcoming Events
October 17 - Online Learning Day & Parent-Teacher Conferences
October 20 - Student Holiday / Professional Development for Staff
October 22 5:30 PM - Trunk or Treat at Denmark High School
October 24 6 PM – PTO Movie Night (see details below)
Raise Craze Fundraiser – November 1–8
Get ready for Brandywine’s biggest fundraiser of the year! Raise Craze combines acts of kindness with raising money to support our school. Last year, thanks to your generosity, we added much-needed playground shade. This year, our goal is to fund a fence to safely enclose the back of our campus. Together, we can make it happen!
Thank you for being such an important part of our Brandywine community. With your support, we’ll continue to make this school year amazing!
Warmly,
Daisy Tremps
Principal

Counseling Connection
October Newsletter 2025
Hey there Badgers! In the counseling world at BWE, we are fully in the Zones of Regulation (“Zones” for short). Ms. Lundy and I are in the classrooms talking about different emotions, different energy levels, and how to handle big emotions/energy when it comes up. For K-2, we have focused on when we feel angry, we first need to stop, breathe, and tell an adult if we need a break. For kindergarten, we discussed that when we feel angry, sometimes we want to make choices that are not appropriate for school. We walked through different scenarios that may happen and remembered to “stop, think, and choose”. For 3-5, we are focusing on how, even if we can’t always control how we’re feeling, we can control our actions. Ms. Lundy has also tied in problem-solving skills to help students remember what to do when they have a strong emotion.
As we work through the Zones, it’s very helpful to use common language at home. Here are a few things that could help reinforce the Zones at home:
1. Create a Zones check-in with your child (please see visual attached)
2. Use Zones language when starting different tasks
3. Identify your own feelings (e.g., “I feel frustrated.” “I’m in the Yellow Zone today; I’m feeling nervous.”)
4. Talk about different strategies you like to use (e.g., taking deep breaths)
5. Teach your child which tools they can use (e.g., take 5 deep breaths, take a break for two minutes, read a book)
6. Praise and encourage your child when they share which Zone, they’re in (e.g., “I love that you shared with me which Zone you’re in.”)
When we use the Zones of Regulation, we want to emphasize the message that emotions are just emotions; some are more comfortable than others. As school counselors, we equip students with the tools they need to feel more regulated, but the goal is not to “fix” feelings. Sometimes the most impactful thing we can do for students as educators and/or parents, is to be a calm and consistent presence. We want to encourage emotional communication with our students while they navigate bigger emotions. For more information, please look at the Zones of Regulation website for materials to use at home.
Looking ahead for this month, our annual Wellness Week will be celebrated at Brandywine October 27-31. During this time, we focus on how making healthy choices can positively impact our overall wellness and future. We will have a wellness challenge every day that will be promoted on the morning news. Be on the lookout for the challenge flyer to use at home.
Mark your calendars for our first Coffee & Conversations of the 2025-2026 school year! We will be having our first session on November 19th, 7:45-9:00am. We will discuss all things PBIS at Brandywine and at home. If you have any feedback for future topics, please reach out to us.
Have a great month Badgers:)
Love,
Lizzie & Jess
