Dove Creek Schools Weekly Update
πΎ October 5th - 8th 2026 πΎ
πππ HOCO 2026 β One for the Books! πππ
What a week! Homecoming 2026 is officially in the books, and what a week it was!
Our students participated in dress-up days throughout the week, leading up to Freshman Games, the pep assembly, parade, Powder Puff, bonfire, Homecoming volleyball and football games, and finally the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night. π
Our volleyball and football teams put up great fights in their Homecoming contests, but regardless of the final scores, one thing was clearβBulldog spirit was HIGH! ππ
π£ A Pep Assembly to Remember!
One of the biggest highlights of the week was our Homecoming Pep Assembly. A huge thank-you to Ms. Janesse Garcia for doing an outstanding job coordinating the event!
Our cheerleaders, along with their coaches Ms. Shayla Buffington and Ms. Tracena Gardner, created an incredible atmosphere with their fun βWig Outβ theme. ππ
A special shoutout also goes to Ms. Kati Banks and our elementary students for their fantastic musical performance filled with drums, cheers, and singing. π₯πΆ You were amazing!
If anyone wondered about the state of school spirit at Dove Creek, they didn't have to wonder after Thursday afternoon! The gym was packed with students, parents, staff, and community members, and the energy was electric. β‘
It was pretty special to look around and see our youngest Bullpups all the way through our high school students, families, staff, and community members celebrating our school together. That is what Bulldog pride is all about! ππ
ππΊ Homecoming Dance
Homecoming wrapped up Saturday night with our Homecoming Dance, organized by Ms. Garcia and Student Council. They did an amazing job decorating and creating a fun evening for our students.
As always, the dance was a wonderful way to wrap up a very busy and memorable Homecoming week! β¨
π Congratulations to Our Homecoming Royalty! ππ
Another special part of Homecoming is recognizing the students selected to represent their classes and our school as members of the 2026 Homecoming Court.
π Congratulations to our Freshman Attendants, Hagan Short and Kara Harrington; Sophomore Attendants, Nevaeh Lien and Connor Horn; and Junior Attendant, Brooklyn Ivey!
We also congratulate our:
π Homecoming Princess: Mykaela Fury
π Homecoming Prince: Will Arellano
π Homecoming Queen: Stormy Beanland
π Homecoming King: Gavin Gill
Our Homecoming Court was also joined by our elementary students: Kynlee Beanland, Cohen Morgan, Elliot Evans, and Cadence Raney. π
Having our younger Bullpups take part is always a special reminder that Homecoming truly brings our entire school together.
Congratulations to all of our 2026 Homecoming Royalty! πππ
π Shoutout of the Week β Ms. Garcia!
Our biggest shoutout this week goes to Ms. Janesse Garcia! π
From Student Council activities and the pep assembly to the Homecoming Dance, the amount of coordinating, planning, decorating, and hours she puts into making Homecoming happen is tremendous.
And even after an incredibly busy week, she wasn't finished being a great teammate!
When we didn't have anyone available to run concessions at the football game because our students were so busy with Homecoming activities, Principal Forst decided to take it on. Ms. Garcia wasn't about to let her do it alone and jumped right in to help. πͺ
Ms. Kati Gardner also showed what being a great teammate looks like when she stepped in to help with concessions at halftime.
Thank you to Ms. Garcia, Student Council, and everyone who helped make Homecoming 2026 such a fun and memorable week for our students and community!
There are so many moving pieces behind an event like this, and it takes a lot of people willing to pitch in, lend a hand, and help wherever they are needed. That's what being a Bulldog is all about! ππ
π Congratulations to Our Students of the Month!
πΎ Middle School β Delaney See
Congratulations to Delaney See, our Middle School Student of the Month!
Delaney's teachers consistently note how hard she works and how easy she is to work with. She is a delight to have in class, gives her best effort, and is kind to her peers.
Delaney quietly demonstrates the qualities we want to see in our Bulldogs every day.
Great job, Delaney! π
πΎ High School β Keaton Banks
Congratulations to Keaton Banks, our High School Student of the Month!
Keaton's teachers have noticed tremendous growth and maturity over the past year. They have seen him make good choices and step up as a leader, even in difficult situations.
Keaton is working hard in school, is polite to others, and makes an effort to include those around him.
Keep up the great work, Keaton! π
π€ Congratulations to Our Teammates of the Month!
πΎ Middle School β Bryson Davis
Congratulations to Bryson Davis, our Middle School Teammate of the Month!
Bryson consistently demonstrates maturity, takes care of his teammates, and stands up for what is right. He works hard in practices and games and gives 100%.
Bryson shows us that being a great teammate is about much more than being a great athleteβwhich he is! It's about how you treat, encourage, and support the people around you.
Congratulations, Bryson! ππ
πΎ High School β Mykaela Fury
Congratulations to Mykaela Fury, our High School Teammate of the Month!
Mykaela brings positivity to every situation. As our FFA President, she leads with passion and brings out the best in those around her.
Her positive energy and strong teamwork have helped get this school year off to an incredible start. From volleyball to her other extracurricular activities, Mykaela is an incredible teammateβdependable, resilient under pressure, and quick to bring a smile to difficult situations.
Congratulations, Mykaela! π
πͺ Bulldog Way: October Is GRIT!
September gave us so many opportunities to talk about Teamwork, and I can't think of a better way to finish the month than Homecoming week! Everywhere we looked, there were examples of students and adults working together, helping one another, and stepping in when something needed to be done.
Now, as we move into October, our Bulldog Way focus turns to:
πͺ GRIT!
Grit means sticking with something even when it gets hard. It means continuing to work when something doesn't come easily, learning from mistakes instead of giving up, and having the determination to finish what you start.
Throughout October, we will challenge our students to demonstrate grit in the classroom, athletics, activities, and everyday life.
π Keep trying.
π Learn from mistakes.
π Finish what you start.
π Bulldogs don't give up!
After a week like Homecoming, there are far too many people to thank individually.
To our students, staff, families, volunteers, coaches, sponsors, and community members who participated, helped, attended, cheered, decorated, cleaned up, and supported our BulldogsβTHANK YOU!
Your support is what makes events like Homecoming so special.
