Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week kicks off today and we hope you will join in on the fun! In addition to our spirit week days, our counselors have been working hard to create fun and engaging activities that will happen in our classrooms this week.
Please note, on Friday, students may wear costumes to school with a reminder that no weapons, blood, gore or masks are welcome. We will not be having a parade that is open to families at this time. Thank you for your understanding. Classroom celebrations will take place Friday afternoon. Please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher if you are interested in contributing.
Student Council
Doe Run's Student Council met for the first time last week. Throughout the year, our Student Council will work on community service events and work collaboratively to help make our school run smoother!
Art Club
Art club cycle 1 is off to a great start for our 2nd and 3rd graders here at Doe Run. Miss W. got each student a mini pumpkin that the students were tasked with decorating and designing. Some kids made theirs spooky and others cute, but every pumpkin was unique. The 3rd graders were awesome helping our 2nd graders with hot gluing to complete their custom pumpkins. When students finished they could draw with light pads, paint, and or sculpt with play doh.
STEM Club
We had a great first STEM Club meeting! Students got to try out the ChompSaw for the first time as they began creating their names. They also had the opportunity to explore coding with the Bee-Bots to create pictures.
Next week, we will finish creating our names and continue exploring Halloween STEM activity!
Our next STEM Club meeting is Wednesday, October 28, at 8:15 AM. I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Doe Run Calendar
Please see the attached Doe Run Elementary calendar. Although it looks like the calendar on the district website, this one is specific to our building.
Lost & Found
Check out our Lost & Found! The items are starting to add up! If your child is missing anything or any of these items look familiar, please have your child check in with Ms. Cogliano during lunch or you can reach out via email to Ms. Cogliano at coglianol@casdschools.org
Fall Picture Day
Save the date for our Fall Picture Day! More information will be coming home to families as the day approaches!

How Students Earn and Use PBIS Points
How do students earn points?
Every time students show respect, responsibility, and safety, they can earn a point in the PBIS Rewards app.
What are students working toward?
Each teacher has created a classroom store through PBIS Rewards! Students can use their points to purchase physical rewards, such as small toys, candy, snacks, erasers, and stickers. Students can also cash in points for fun experiences, such as sitting in the teacher’s chair, enjoying a lunch bunch or extra recess, helping in another classroom, or sharing a joke during morning announcements. Rewards may vary by classroom.
When can students cash in their points?
Students will have opportunities to spend their earned points with their teacher at least twice a month.
This system encourages students to make positive choices, take responsibility for their actions, and consistently demonstrate our schoolwide expectations!
PBIS Family App
This year we are using PBIS Rewards (in place of ClassDojo). We are encouraging all families to download the app and connect with their child's account so that you can see all of the positive points they earn throughout the day! The app also provides a messaging feature that teachers can choose to utilize as well. While email will remain the main source of communication, the messaging in PBIS Rewards is a secondary option. Here is how you can get connected:
Make sure you first download the PBISR Family app (the Purple one)
Then scan the QR code from your child's homeroom teacher into the app to get connected. If you have more than one child, you will need to scan the individualized QR for each child to get connected.
We can't wait to share with you all of the positive things your child shows us throughout each day!
