This week marks the beginning of our venture into "at home" learning. Last week, Dr. Kite communicated our goals for continuing to provide learning opportunities for students to the best of our ability. RSES teachers worked hard last week to develop learning activities for students with access to online resources as well as paper packets for those who are not able to access online resources. These can be accessed via our school website or by clicking the links below. Paper packets will continue to be available at food distribution sites. A link to paper packets can also be found on the school website for those who wish to preview or print them from home.
Sometimes a simple schedule/routine each day can work wonders in helping kids feel calm and secure. We provided a "guide" for at home learning times (1.5 hours/day for second grade & 2 hours/day for grades 3 & 4). This is just a guide. Make the schedule according to what fits best with your child and your family. Even 30 minutes of seated learning can be a struggle so don't be afraid to tell your child to take breaks, move around, find a comfortable spot, and find a pace that works for them. This week our activities serve as a review of learning that took place earlier in the school year. Online platforms (iReady, ST Math, etc.) should be familiar to your child.
We are here to support you during this time. We realize many of you are still reporting to work each day or are working from home. This can make finding a time for structured learning difficult and we completely understand. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need assistance. We truly want to support as much as possible without causing additional stress for your family during this uncertain time. We are offering an additional device distribution time on Wednesday for those who were not able to pick up last week. Devices can be picked up at the Elementary Parent Pick Up doors on Wednesday, April 8th between 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Thank you for your continued support during this time. We miss the students so much!
