Dear Steele Families,

As we approach the end of the first quarter, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible effort our students have been putting into their learning. We are so proud of the growth we’ve seen in classrooms across the building. Report cards will be sent home following Fall Break to give families a clear picture of progress so far this year.

A special thank you goes out to all of the families who shared feedback from our VIP Breakfast. We are thrilled to know how meaningful the event was to so many of you, and your suggestions will help us make it even better in the future. It was heartwarming to read how much the morning meant to students and their special guests.

This week, we are excited to welcome you to Family Reading Night on Wednesday from 5:30–7:00 PM at Steele. The Book Fair will be open all week before and after school, as well as during Family Reading Night. Our PTO is generously providing dinner for everyone who attends—a slice of pizza, a cookie, and a bottle of water for each guest. Families will also have the chance to enjoy a variety of literacy-based activities connected to this year’s theme, A World of Cultures, One Community.

We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of reading, community, and fun!

👩‍🏫 Parent-Teacher Conferences – Thursday, October 2 (4:00–7:00 PM) & Wednesday, October 8 (4:00–7:00 PM)
📅 End of 1st Quarter – Friday, October 10 (1-hour early dismissal)
🍂 Fall Break – No School the week of October 13

Letters will come home this week to confirm your time for parent teacher conferences. Reach out to the classroom teacher if your assigned time does not work.

You can still order online using the code below. Also, our PTO has generously offered to purchase a class photo for every student. Since we no longer produce a yearbook, this is a wonderful way for each child to have a keepsake of their class this year. We are so grateful for the PTO’s continued support of our students.

In our last week of our Respect lessons, we will once again review emotional regulation strategies. These are skills we continue to practice over and over and children develop their ability to pause before reacting.

Please download the Galesburg App. When you receive your invitation email, then you can sign up for messaging. All staff will use this for communication this school year. Once you have the app downloaded, you will see your child's teacher and information in the app.

If you haven't received an email or text, you can reach out to the office to get a code. If you are having trouble connecting, please contact our main office at 309-973-2016

The Shine in #205 program is a way for you to salute any CUSD #205 employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you are a parent/guardian impressed with that special touch your student's teacher added to a moment, a coworker who thinks their colleague doesn't hear often enough about the great job they are doing, or a community member who witnessed a staff member's commitment to students-you can submit a Shine nomination!
