The Summiteer AUGUST 2026
School to Home Newsletter for Summit Elementary
Principal to Parent Information
Dear Grown-ups,
Wow! Where has the summer gone? Time sure flies when you are enjoying your time together as a family. With that being said our school "family" is eagerly preparing for your students to return to school.
This year there will be several changes that will impact some of you more than others:
- The biggest of these is a tightening of school tardies and absences to meet school and school district policies.
- Please arrive to school on time.
- Automated letters will be sent out for both absences and positive attendance.
- Consequences for repeated tardies and absences will be addressed by administration and Attendance court.
- Implementation of Positive Behavior and Supports Systems (PBIS) building-wide to help students be more success with positive academic and behavioral choices
- Students will all be required to wear a lanyard during school hours with their PBIS code on it to receive positive recognition points
- Lanyard must be worn during entire school day
- Lanyards must stay at school
- Lost lanyards cost $2 to replace
- School to home communication will ONLY be through our PowerSchool program. If you want or need to be informed about school events, important safety notices and want communication with your child's teacher to help your child be success you must:
- Please DO NOT block PowerSchool (you will not know what is going on)
- If you have already created a block please unblock it
- Teachers will still call or email with individual concerns or praise occasionally during a time when they have time so please do not block school phone numbers or emails
208-324-3396. Some ways to get involved (approval needed first):
- Attend School events! We want to see you
- Attend student conferences and come to Meet Your Teacher Night

- Be a classroom helper/mentor or other volunteer
- Communicate with your teacher and school!
- Donate or participate in Fall FLING!!! We need your donations
- Share your skills and so much more

IMPORTANT Parent INFO for SY 26-27
If your child has a 45min. appt midday (for example)
(at Dr./Dentist/Counselor) it is expected that they
are attending school both before and after the appointment.
Every single minute really does count!!!
The Dr. Note ONLY EXCUSES them for the appointment NOT the entire school day.
Dr.'s notes are the only was to have an EXCUSED absence as well.
The Idaho State law states students need to attend school on time, every day!
Students MUST be in their seats at 8:15am NO later!
There will a VERY hard line on Tardies and Early Pick ups for the year. (3 = 1 absence)
(We NEED you (Parent/Guardian/Driver) to bring your student to school
ON TIME to avoid attendance court with law enforcement)
Do you still need to register?
Have you registered for 2026-2027 School Year yet?
26-27 School Year Online Enrollment--IMPORTANT!
Parents, You should have received an email from PS about registering your student for next year.
noreplyenrollment@powerschool.com is the email address with the snap code.
If you did not receive it, please check your spam folder BEFORE contacting the Summit Office.
If you still do not have it, please contact the office at 208-324-3396
or email Tina Brewer @ tina.brewer@jeromeschools.org
DELAYED REGISTRATION:
WILL affect being able to ride the bus the first day of school
as well as any open enrollment requests may be denied!
All library books need to be returned to school, please!
Missing library Books!
Please return Summit library books back to Summit Elementary.
Parents will be responsible to pay student fines.
We are missing way too many library books and they are expensive to replace:
Students that do not return their books will not be allowed to check out books to take home.
Reminder for Grown-ups!
Parents: Please remember to call the school for
absences or email tina.brewer@jeromeschools.org.
Also to reach the office you need to call before
2:30 M-R and 1:30 on Fridays,
for changes in how your student is getting home.
It can get really busy in the office at the end of the day and we might not be able to take your call. DO NOT assume leaving a message during these times is enough.
Be sure to speak with a real person in the office before the above times
to ensure the message is received.
Students will not be allowed to change routes and will be sent on their regularly scheduled method of transportation home WITHOUT WRITTEN permission or a phone call from parent(s).
PLEASE AVOID picking up student early from school!
You may sit and wait for the dismissal bell in the lobby if you choose to
but students are not dismissed through the front doors--
students can be picked up at the flag pole.
As a rule STUDENTS will not be called out of class early for parent pick up
to avoid waiting in line. Students are learning bell to bell.
If a student is needed for an appointment the request will be granted
but you will need to BRING IN A NOTE from the provider (Dr. /Dentist etc.)
to avoid absenteeism entries in power school.
Thank you to all the NEW Kinders that joined us for Kinder camp 2026
