December 19, 2022

Good Morning Memorial Families,

Where is our snow? We are finding it difficult to get into the true holiday spirit this year without the blanket of snow on the ground. It seems as though over the past several years that winter has shifted towards January and February and December tends to be on the milder side. It is great for being able to accomplish the many activities that we have, but it certainly does dampen my dreams of a white Christmas. We will have to wait and see. In the meantime, we have much happening this week. We are looking forward to welcoming many of you into the building for holiday parties and activities. What a difference a year makes. Looking back at last year’s parent update and it is easy to forget that just a year ago, we still had so many gathering restrictions in place. We are just so grateful for a year that has felt completely normal.

This Friday is an early release day. We will begin dismissal at 12:10pm. Please make arrangements for your children on this day. If you are coming through the pick up line, please write your child’s first AND last name on a piece of paper and display it in your front windshield. This allowed the lines to move more quickly. If your child takes the bus home, please remember and note that our MURSD buses will not drop off any elementary student without a parent/guardian/babysitter/older sibling present at the bus stop in the afternoons. While you may consider your third and fourth grader capable of getting off the bus alone, our rule is that they get returned to the school if there is nobody waiting outside. Please do your best to make sure that someone is available to pick your child up off of the bus each day.

We want to take this parent update to thank you for your continued partnership this year and wish all of our families a restful winter vacation. Happy holidays to all of you and a very happy and prosperous New Year ahead for 2023.

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Warmly,

Lauren and Wendy
