Hardy Happenings March 23, 2026
Hardy HappeningsMarch 23, 2026

Dear Hardy Families,

We are in our final week before spring break, and I hope you and your family enjoy a wonderful week off. Please note that this Friday, March 27, is a minimum day with dismissal at 11:55 a.m. School resumes on Monday, April 6.

There are several important action items in this newsletter, including re-registering for the 2026–27 school year through Parent Portal. This process is incredibly important because Hardy’s staffing for next year is determined by the numbers reflected in PowerSchool. If families do not complete registration, we are at risk of appearing under-enrolled and could lose a teacher. If you are interested in summer school or PrimeTime for 2026–27, you will also find directions here for how to enroll.

I also want to share that I have surgery scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, and will be out for two weeks. An admin designee will be assigned to Hardy to support during that time, and the assistant principals across the Henry Cluster are aware and available to help as needed as well. When I return, I will have limited mobility for a period of time. A few calendar dates have shifted due to my absence, but we will stay in close communication with you every step of the way.

Finally, I want to sincerely thank you for your incredible generosity with the meal train. It has been a lifesaver while I have not been able to stand for very long. I hope you know just how grateful I am to be part of this community.

Wishing you a restful and joyful spring break!

With Gratitude

Principal Aragon

HARDY INFORMATION HARDY INFORMATION

Beginning today, Monday, March 23, parents of currently enrolled students should log in to their PowerSchool Parent Portal and complete the new form named Student Registration for Next Year to let us know if your student will be returning for the 2026-27 school year. All returning families must complete the Student Registration for Next Year form by the end of day (11:59 p.m.) on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Eligibility for End of the Year Activities

As the school year comes to a close, teachers and families across all grade levels are planning special end-of-year activities to celebrate our students and their hard work. Participation in these events is a privilege, and students must remain in good standing in citizenship to take part. All Hardy students are expected to uphold our SOAR values by being Synergized, Optimistic, Accountable, and Respectful. Eligibility for end-of-year activities will be based on behavior, at least 90% attendance, and consistent on-time arrival. For our 5th graders, this expectation is especially important as it also applies to promotion and other 5th-grade celebration activities. Students who do not meet these expectations may be excluded from one or more end-of-year events at the discretion of the teachers and principal.

Volunteer Reminder

It’s field trip season! At the beginning of the year, we shared the requirements for becoming a cleared volunteer. If you are planning to attend a field trip or volunteer on campus and are unsure whether all of your paperwork has been completed and approved, please reach out to the Hardy front office. We’re happy to check your status and let you know if you are fully cleared.

CYBHI INSURANCE EMAIL

This is a reminder that families will begin receiving emails this week from Paradigm Healthcare Services requesting their student’s health insurance information and consent to bill as part of San Diego Unified’s participation in the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) Fee Schedule. We know families may have questions about this email. Please take a moment to review the helpful flyer below that contains more detailed information about why the district is requesting you complete this form and how it helps ensure the district receives reimbursement for services that support our students.

❤️ Thank You for a Great Dine Out

Thank you to everyone who joined us at San Diego Brewing Co. last week! These events are always a highlight, not just for fundraising, but for the chance to connect as a community outside of school. It truly felt like a Hardy party, and your participation helps support programs for all our students.

🎁 Coming Soon: Hardy Silent Auction

This online auction combines high-stakes competition, online shopping and supporting kids – what’s not to love?

We’re getting ready to launch Soaring Together, our big Spring fundraiser and a fun way to help our school while scoring sporting tickets, family activities, beauty treatments and more.

🏀 March Madness Parking Fundraiser– Amazing Work!

Huge thanks to our Dad’s Club and PTA volunteers who staffed the parking lot for SDSU’s March Madness games this weekend; we raised over $5,600!!

This has proven to be one of our most effective fundraisers this year, made possible by volunteers giving their time and our school’s location. Special thanks to Dad’s Club Chair Brian Poladian for leading the effort and making it all run smoothly.

🗳️ Last Call: PTA Board Interest

This is the final week to submit your interest if you’re considering joining the PTA Board for next year. We’d love to welcome some new voices and perspectives into the mix.

Not sure where you fit? The Nominating Committee put together a helpful overview of roles and time commitments to make it easier to explore options.
