Hello Pentucket Families!
It was another exciting and productive week at Pentucket!
On Tuesday, our staff participated in professional development led by Tom Driscoll from EdTechTeacher. Staff explored both the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence from the perspectives of teachers and students. It was an insightful few hours filled with thoughtful discussion, meaningful collaboration, and valuable takeaways.
Pentucket also hosted its final home football game of the season. The team will conclude its season against Triton on Thanksgiving morning. We hope many members of the Pentucket community will come out to show their support!
The boys’ varsity soccer team continues its exciting season in the playoffs. Congratulations to the players and coaches on an incredible season, and best of luck as they continue their playoff run!
Finally, our varsity competition cheer team competed in the CAL Championship this past Wednesday, when Pentucket welcomed 10 teams to our campus. A huge shout-out to Coach Freitas for organizing and running such a successful event!
Have a wonderful weekend!

2nd Annual Good Neighbor Challenge!
We are proud to kick off our 2nd Annual Good Neighbor Challenge—our districtwide friendly competition across all of our schools to support Our Neighbors’ Table (ONT), an essential local non-profit dedicated to establishing regional food security and universal food access across our communities. You can watch a video about the competition here, or read below.
Last year, the Sweetsir School took home top honors and earned the right to hang the traveling Good Neighbor Award in their building for the entire year. This year, the slate is wiped clean: will Sweetsir defend their title, or will another school claim district bragging rights?
The challenge starts next Monday, November 9th and runs through Friday, November 13th. All six PRSD schools will compete (with the Middle and High School, as well as Sweetsir and Donaghue, counted separately).
New Scoring System for Year Two
Based on current inventory needs we received from Our Neighbors' Table heading into the holiday season, points will be awarded under two streamlined categories:
- 1 Point: Any standard shelf-stable food item, personal care item, or each $1 donated online.
- 2 Points: High-priority items on ONT’s Most Needed List:
- Canned pumpkin
- Canned cranberry sauce
- Gravy (canned or packets)
- Canned cream of mushroom soup
- Stuffing mix
- Instant potatoes / potato flakes
- Pumpkin bread / bread mixes
- Baking mixes / kits
To keep the competition fair regardless of school enrollment size, each school’s final score is calculated on a per-person basis (total points earned divided by the total number of students and staff in the building). The winning school will be engraved on the Good Neighbor Award—our district's own Stanley Cup (see the below for a small image of the award).
How to Participate
- Drop Off Items: Students and families can bring shelf-stable food and personal care items directly to their school’s collection bins throughout the week.
- Donate Online: Every dollar donated equals one point for your school. Use your school’s direct link below or scan the school QR code on your building's flyer:
Follow the Leaderboard
- A mid-week district update will go out by text and email by Thursday morning so everyone knows what the scores are.
- The official winner will be announced on Monday, November 16th!
Each school principal will share building-specific drop-off locations and spirit incentives. Thank you to our students, staff, families, and neighbors for showing what community care looks like when it matters most.

Great FUN Job!
Looking for a job where no two days are exactly the same? Join Pentucket Middle-High School as a substitute teacher!
Our substitute teachers are essential members of the team. They keep learning moving, provide students with a positive and structured classroom experience, and help our school run smoothly when a teacher is absent. One day you might explore history, the next you could supervise a science activity—and by Friday, you may know more about middle-school slang than you ever expected!

Community Service Opportunites
1). The Hilldale Cemetery: Volunteers are needed to aid in the cleanup of the cemetery to ready it for the Wreaths Across America Program in December. The cleanup is medium to heavy work, clearing away summer growth so that the wreaths can be placed in December. If you are up for a challenge, love the outdoors, and exercise, this is your type of community service.
Your contact person is Tammy Dobrosielski, and she can be reached through email at tdobrosielski@prsd.org
Please consider volunteering for this worthy cause.
If you are interested in further information about the cemetery and its connection to Wreaths Across America, you can go to www.hilldalewreaths.com
