Hello Phenix Firebirds!

πππOur students are 'clover' achievers!πππ
Dear Phenix Elementary Families,
Spring is just around the corner, and March is shaping up to be one of our busiest and most exciting months yet! We are kicking things off with a celebration of literacy during Read Across America Week (March 2β6). Itβs a wonderful time to see our students' passion for reading grow as we honor the joy of books.
This month also marks a significant academic milestone as we enter our 3rd Nine Weeks Benchmark Window, running through March 13. We are so proud of the hard work our students are putting into their studies. Please note that Friday, March 13, will be an Early Dismissal day to mark the end of the third nine weeks. Report cards will be sent home the following week on Thursday, March 19.
We also have several wonderful opportunities for family and community involvement this month:
Kindergarten Enrollment: Throughout the month, we are holding CCPS Kindergarten Enrollment, with a special In-House Enrollment at PES on Wednesday, March 4.
Performances & Luncheons: We invite our 2nd and 3rd-grade families to join us on Friday, March 20, at 9:45 AM, our 1st grade families on Friday, March 27 at 9:45 AM, and our PreK and K families on Monday, March 30 at 9:45 AM for a special Parent Luncheon and Performance!
Learning Beyond the Classroom: Our students will be out exploring this month! Our 2nd graders head to Hampden-Sydney for Literacy Day (March 24), and our 4th graders will take an exciting trip to Jamestown and Yorktown (March 27).
Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. Letβs make it a great month!
Warmly,
Phenix Elementary School

Nurse's News
March brings the promise of spring, warmer weather, and more time outdoors! Remind your child to dress in layersβmornings may still be chilly, but afternoons can warm up quickly.
This month is also a good time to refresh healthy habits. Encourage your child to stay active, eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, and get enough sleep each night. As allergy season begins for some students, please let the nurse know if your child has seasonal allergies and may need medication during the school day.
Handwashing and covering coughs/sneezes are still important as cold and flu season winds down. If your child is feeling unwell, keeping them home helps protect everyoneβs health.
Wishing your family a happy and healthy start to spring!

March Character Focus: Honesty
This month, our focus is Honesty. One way to think about honesty is being truthful in what you say and do. Practicing honesty helps build strong relationships, grow trust, and reduce stress.
We encourage you to talk as a family about why honesty is important. Together, create a Family Honesty Pledge that reflects what honesty looks like in your home. You might design and decorate a sign that explains what honesty means to your family. Have each family member sign the pledge and choose a special place to display it.
Refer back to your pledge throughout the month as a reminder to practice honestyβand be sure to celebrate when you see family members demonstrating it!
