Dear AGCS Parents and Guardians,

AGCS ELC Campus is scheduled to conduct an Intruder Drill on Friday, November 6, 2026. In the time leading up to the drill, our teachers will facilitate a lesson and class discussion on safety protocols and procedures with all students and answer any questions they may have about the process.

Teachers will read the social story, Intruder Drills at School. The teachers will be focusing on the following:

Why do we have safety drills? (Intruder drills, fire drills, severe weather drills)

What is my job as a student? (Be alert, listen to the teacher, follow the teacher's directions)

How will adults help keep me safe?

What does it look like to run or hide in an intruder situation?

School is a safe place for me!

Every student perceives these drills differently. We ask that, in partnership with the school, you discuss the importance of safety and following directions with your children prior to the drill.

As we do after every drill, the teachers and staff will also provide feedback to the school administration and emergency response personnel so that our practices are reviewed as part of a continuous cycle of improvement.

Avon Grove Charter School appreciates the relationships and support from our staff, parents, law enforcement, and all emergency personnel working to ensure the safety of AGCS.
