A Note from the Principal
We had a wonderful week at Rox!
Kindergarten Kickoff was a great success, with nearly half of our enrolled kindergarten families joining us to learn more about the CH-UH kindergarten experience. Thank you to Ms. Argie and Ms. Litten for joining me at this event.
Our teachers returned on Thursday, and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast and morning session before welcoming families for Supply Drop-Off and Popsicles on the Playground. Thank you to our PTA for organizing such a fun event!
We are all very excited to welcome our students into the building on Wednesday. We can’t wait to begin a fantastic school year together!
Best,
Mel Barrett Burkeet
Principal, Roxboro Elementary School
First Day of School
We are excited to welcome our students back Wednesday!
- Grades 1-5: The first day of school is Wednesday, August 19. Students will be considered tardy beginning at 8:50 a.m.

Kindergarten Staggered Start Schedule*

First Day "Clap In"
We will begin the day on Wednesday with our traditional “Clap-In” to welcome students back. Students will line up by their teacher's number and follow our morning line up.
After Drop-Off: Coffee with the Principal
Once students head inside, families are welcome to stay for a PTA-sponsored Coffee with the Principal in the gazebo on the playground. This will be a relaxed opportunity to connect with one another, ask questions, and walk through the Student Code of Conduct (SCOC).
You can watch a short video overview of the SCOC here ahead of time so that you are aware of the expectations. The full Student Code of Conduct can be found here.
We’re excited to kick off a fantastic first day together!

Parent Annual Update - Required by 8/18
Last year I heard that Rox El was the first school in the district to reach 100% completion of PAUs. Let's do it again!!
Log in to Infinite Campus to complete your Annual Update before 8/18. This important step ensures we have the most up-to-date contact, emergency, and family information so we can best support your child throughout the school year.
If you need assistance, please call us at Rox to help! We will also have computers available to use in our main office on 8/13 during our school supply drop-off event at 2:00pm.
Until your child's PAU for the 2026-2027 school year has been completed, they will not be permitted to participate in field trips, sports*, or extra-curricular activities.
It’s extremely important that we have the most up-to-date emergency contact and medical information for your child when they are participating in such activities. To avoid these consequences, please complete your child’s PAU by August 18.
Directions for how to complete the Annual Update:
1. Log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
- All CH-UH parents/guardians have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Parents/guardians have either self-registered or have been issued an account. Newly enrolled families receive account information via email within a few business days after their student is enrolled. If you are experiencing login difficulties or need a password reset, please contact your school’s front office staff or the Data Department at icportal@chuh.org.

Garden Club
Extracurriculars will be starting soon at Rox El, including Garden Club which will take place on Thursdays after school beginning 8/27. Check out the flyer below for more information.
Class Dojo
As part of a districtwide effort to strengthen communication and support our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, Roxboro will be expanding our use of ClassDojo this year. Many of our teachers and families already use ClassDojo, and we're excited to make it an even more effective way to share classroom updates, celebrate student successes, and stay connected.
If you're new to ClassDojo, you will get an activation link sent to you on Wednesday, August 19th.
