MOHI Nation News

Please join us Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 for Celebrate! A night of wonderful music featuring choir band and orchestra!

The Monarch Girls’ Basketball team kicked off this season at the Best in the Nest tournament.

On Tuesday night, they faced Northfield in their season opener. Northfield, who ended up being crowned tournament champions, came out on fire and dominated the entire game. Even though our girls played tough, it wasn’t enough to put out the Northfield fire, and Monarch got a beating losing 37-73.

The sting from Tuesday’s loss provided motivation for Monarch to come out strong on Thursday night against Chaparrel high school. This game was back-and-forth, with exciting moments and many lead changes. Even with a much improved effort, Chaparrel’s crafty point guard hit a buzzer beater which gave her team the 55-54 win over Monarch.

Skyview high school was Monarch’s final opponent in the tournament. With two of Monarch’s starters out for the game, many other players saw significant minutes. With contributions from each of the girls, Monarch crushed Skyview 56-19.

The Monarch Girls’ Basketball team will play a talented Arvada West team on their home court this Tuesday night starting at 4:00 with the C team game followed be JV and varsity.

Please come support the Monarch Girls’ Basketball team on Thursday night in their home opener when they take on South High School. The JV team starts the evening with their game at 5 PM and the varsity follows with a 6:30 PM tipoff.
