From the Desk of Mrs. Stariha
Cooper Families,
It has been an amazing start to the year. With the dawn of a new school year all of our school district buildings are asked to take a deep dive into our progress and struggles from the previous school year. This year our Cooper Shared Leadership Team evaluated our results from last year and settled on our goals for the upcoming school year. Our academic goal for the year will continue to focus around literacy instruction.
Goal #1: Each grade level will increase their average score on the benchmark assessment by 5 percentile points from Fall 2024 to Spring 2025.
Last year, we saw significant improvement on our Fastbridge data and we would like to see this even more this year. This goal is backed up with positive data and survey results that reflected the hard work and dedication of our students and staff at Cooper. Please look for updates and information on our progress towards our school goals in the newsletters and information that we share with you throughout the year.

Counselor Talk
Start with Hello!
As we start the new year, it is important for students to make connections with each other and with staff. School connectedness reflects students’ belief that peers and adults in the school support, value, and care about their individual well-being as well as their academic progress. It is an important protective factor that promotes the health and well-being of students. We take time to practice how to talk to other including personal space, tone of voice, facial expressions, and body language, and listening. Learning about others and finding things in common is an important way to build those connections in school.
Certified Kindness School
We are aiming to become a Certified Kindness School this year!!! "In today’s world, cultivating a culture of kindness within our school community is more important than ever. A Certified Kindness School is not just a place where students learn academic skills; it’s a space where compassion, respect, and empathy thrive." We will be doing acts of kindness throughout the year at Cooper, including participating in the Great Kindness Challenge! Check out the September Acts of Generosity Calendar below!
