STM SCOOP
Welcome Back!
Welcome Back to STM!!!
Hello families,
Welcome back to the new 26-27 school year!!! I pray everyone had a restful, safe, and fun summer break and that we are all excited about the start of the school year. I am excited to hear about all our students fun stories and big announcements next week.
As you can see below, the office opens tomorrow so if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. Our school website has valuable information to help your child succeed at STM. Please review our Student Code of Conduct and School Supply list before the first day of school. The school daily schedule is included below for your reference. We expect all grade 7s to attend Wednesday and all grade 8s and 9s to attend Thursday.
Please note that our surrounding roads are under construction and it will take longer than usual to drive in and out of the area. As the city of Edmonton provides us updates, we will share it with all our families. Sorry for the inconvenience.
To support our families, our office will be focusing on ARC card pick ups on Tuesday, September 1st from 10am to 2pm so your child is ready to ride the ETS on the first day of school. If you have one from last year, just reload it through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, and your child will be good for the month. If you are new to the division and need support accessing the PowerSchool Parent Portal, feel free to come in during this time as well.
The division theme is Rooted in Joy and will be guiding us over the next three years. The bible verse to centre our thoughts is from Galatians 5:22, "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness..." A beautiful opportunity for us to teach to our mission statement. The mission at St. Thomas More school is to provide a Catholic Education that inspires our students to engage in a balanced and holistic journey of learning and excellence.
The start of a school year can lead to nerves for both students and their families, especially if you are new to STM. We appreciate the courage it takes to enter a new school and so we are pleased to host a grade 7s only orientation day. Unlike elementary, parents will not be coming into the school so please prepare your child. I promise that my staff understands how your children might be feeling, and we will do everything we can to make them feel welcome and safe.
We are very excited to see your children next week.
God Bless,
Kevin Myskiw
