Heritage Happenings March 2026
March 2026
Dear Heritage Families,
March is here and we are excited for the signs of spring that are beginning to appear! With the weather hopefully starting to warm up and the days getting longer, students are enjoying more daylight and opportunities to be active outside.
Students are working hard in their classrooms as we approach the end of the 3rd quarter. Our teachers and students are focused on finishing the quarter strong and continuing to make great progress in their learning.
We are also looking forward to Spring Break, which is just around the corner. We hope this will be a wonderful time for families to relax, recharge, and spend time together.
Speaking of the changing weather, many students have been bringing sweatshirts and coats to school. Our lost and found is currently very full. If your student is missing a jacket, sweatshirt, water bottle, or other item, please remind them to check the lost and found.
Thank you for your continued support. We appreciate all you do to help make our school community such a great place for students to learn and grow!
Warm regards,
Dr. Kimberley Walters, Val Sutton, Katie Will and Melrick Bogier

Medications at School
As we approach the final months of the academic year, we would like to remind parents and guardians of the district’s policies regarding student medications.
In accordance with WSD Board Policy and Regulation 2780, written authorization from both a physician and a parent/guardian is required for all medications administered at school. This includes prescription and over-the-counter medications (such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, cough syrups, etc.) and applies to students in grades PK–12.
Students are not permitted to self-carry medications.* All medications must be delivered to the school by a parent/guardian or a responsible adult. Medications must be provided in the original, pharmacy-labeled container, including clear instructions for administration, and should not exceed a 30-day supply. Over-the-counter medications must also be received in their original packaging and will be administered only according to a physician’s written instructions.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe school environment. If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Heather Sweeten at heathersweeten@wsdr4.org.
*Students with asthma, anaphylaxis, or other chronic health conditions may be permitted to self-carry and self-administer prescribed “rescue” medications, such as metered-dose inhalers. An Authorization for self-administration form must be on file with the school nurse and submitted annually.
Leader In Me
At school, students are learning about the 7 Habits and how they can be leaders every day. March’s habit is Habit 6: Synergize, which means working together and valuing everyone’s ideas. When we work as a team, we can do more than we could alone!
Here are simple ways your family can practice Habit 6 together:
Build Care Packages – Create kits for neighbors or community members in need.
Family Clean-Up Day – Tackle a park, neighborhood area, or even your own yard as a team.
Cook for Someone Else – Plan, prepare, and deliver a meal together.
Help a Neighbor with Yard Work – Combine your efforts to bless someone nearby.
Create a Family Teamwork Chart – Set shared goals and celebrate what you accomplish together.
When families collaborate, listen to each other’s ideas, and value everyone’s strengths, children see firsthand how teamwork makes a difference. Thank you for partnering with us to grow leaders both in and out of school!
Bonus: If your family participates in one of these activities, we’d love to see it! Share a photo and tag Heritage so we can celebrate your teamwork in action!
