Reading

This month in reading, we will be starting Unit 4 of our Benchmark curriculum, "Many Characters, Many Points of View". We will be reading folktales and fiction stories. Students will compare and contrast the points of view of different characters and understand how points of view can change as circumstances do throughout the story. This connects to the real world by helping students understand that it can be beneficial to look at things through the eyes of others.

UFLI

Students participate in Walk to Read daily for phonics instruction. Students are grouped based on their specific phonics needs so that instruction is differentiated for each child. They will read a variety of stories and play various phonics games.

Math

Throughout Unit 5, students will build upon their prior knowledge of place value and the base ten system to include numbers up to 1,000. They will use ones, tens, and hundreds to compose three digit numbers, as well as learn how to write them using word form and expanded form. By the end of this unit, students will be able to successfully build and compare three digit numbers in multiple ways.

School Expectations School Expectations

As we return from winter break, we are revisiting school expectations and ensuring that students are acting respectfully and responsibly both in and out of the classroom to cultivate a positive learning experience for everyone. We encourage parents to have conversations with your students about what respecting themselves and others should look like both at school and home!
