A message from the superintendent
Please remember to vote and turn in your ballot by February 10
Dear Everett Public Schools community,
I want to remind our community to please vote and turn in your ballot by February 10. Due to recent changes with the United States Postal Service, we encourage voters to use an official ballot drop box. Ballots must be postmarked or dropped in a ballot box by 8 p.m. on February 10 to be counted. Ballots mailed within one week of Election Day may not be postmarked in time. You can find a location near you by visiting the Snohomish County website.
Everett Public Schools has two measures on the ballot: a School Construction Bond and a renewal Education Levy. You can learn more about the measures at https://www.everettsd.org/Bond-Levy-2026.
Over the past several months, I have attended many community meetings, school visits, and Let’s Connect events focused on these measures. Thank you to everyone who took time to attend, ask questions, and share perspectives. I appreciate the thoughtful and honest conversations we have had, and I am grateful for the chance to listen and learn from families, staff, students, and community members across our district.
Public engagement has been central to this process. Since last spring, district staff have shared information through school meetings, community presentations, mailers, videos, and our website. Our goal is to give voters clear, factual information about what the bond and levy include, how school funding works, and how these measures affect students and staff each day.
I also want to extend a sincere thank you to the members of the bond planning committee. This group included parents, students, educators, and community members who volunteered many hours to study facility conditions, review enrollment trends, and consider long-term needs across the district. Their work helped shape the proposal that was ultimately brought forward to the School Board. I appreciate their commitment to a careful, transparent process.
Again, please vote by February 10.
Be safe and be well,
Dr. Ian B. Saltzman
Superintendent

Inclement weather Parent University
As winter weather approaches, we know families have questions about how school delays or closures are decided. In this video, Everett Public Schools leaders walk families through our inclement weather decision-making process and the careful steps we take to keep students, staff, and families safe.
The video explains how we:
-
Monitor weather forecasts using trusted sources
-
Coordinate across departments and with neighboring districts
-
Conduct early-morning, on-the-ground road assessments across five district regions
-
Communicate decisions as early as possible through ParentSquare, our website, social media, and local news outlets
Safety is always our top priority, and these decisions are never taken lightly. We also recognize that conditions can vary across neighborhoods, and families may make different choices based on their circumstances.
State releases latest report card for schools and districts
Every year, the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) publishes a report card for each district and each school within the district. The 2024-25 data can be accessed on the OSPI website.
To review the data for the school district or a school, start typing in the name and a drop box will appear with choices. Select your choice to view the report card. You can optionally select ‘See all schools and districts’ and navigate to the district or school you want to select.
