🐻Grizzly News! 🐻Grizzly News!

Greetings, Millswood Families! 🐻💚

Last week was full of celebrations, school spirit, and tremendous support from our Millswood community. It’s a great time to be a Grizzly!

🍧 Snow Cones from Parent Club

Thank you to everyone who supported Wednesday’s snow cone sale! When I saw the line, I thought I was waiting for a ride at Disneyland. But as seventh grader Logan Wang said after enjoying a few bites, “Totally worth it 😎”

A huge thank-you to Parent Club for always coming through for our students. We truly value your time, energy, and support!

🐝 William Is Headed to the Regional Bee!

On Thursday, Millswood hosted the Lodi USD District Spelling Bee, and we had the pleasure of watching our very own William Sanders qualify for the Regional Bee! Congratulations, William—we are proud of you and look forward to cheering you on!

🌟 Celebrating Quarter 1 Honor Roll

Friday was another exciting day as we celebrated our Grizzlies who earned Quarter 1 Honor Roll! We are proud of your hard work and academic achievement, and we hope to see you at our next recognition.

For every Grizzly, this quarter is a fresh opportunity to set goals, stay on top of assignments, and ask for support. Keep working toward your personal best!

💚 Tuesday: Flu Clinic

As we settle back into our routines, many of us have also encountered the bug going around. Millswood will host a Flu Clinic on Monday, October 26, from 3–5 p.m. in the MPR.

🖤🧡 Friday: Black and Orange Spirit Day

Show your school spirit on Friday, October 30, by wearing black, orange, or both!

Friday is not Halloween, and this spirit day is an invitation to wear our themed colors. As a reminder, the following guidelines apply to anything students wear to school:

  • No masks

  • No weapons or weapon props

  • No inflatable costumes

  • All clothing and accessories must be school appropriate

Thank you for helping us keep the day fun, safe, and focused on learning!

Thank you, Millswood families, for your continued support. Let’s have another great week!

Go Grizzlies! 🐻💚

Attendance Matters!

Being at school every day and on time helps students stay connected, build strong habits, and keep up with learning. Every day brings opportunities to grow, participate, and succeed!

Please help your Grizzly arrive ready to learn, schedule appointments outside school hours when possible, and notify the office when your student is absent. If attendance challenges arise, reach out—we’re here to help! 💚

  • Congratulations to Mrs. Okino-Chavez's Homeroom! They had 67% participation for spirit days last quarter. They enjoyed donuts on Friday. Don't forget to wear Millswood gear OR black and green on Fridays to earn your homeroom points.

One Little Dot, So Much More!

What began as a celebration of International Dot Day in Mrs. Shinn’s Art & Design classes grew into a colorful collaboration involving nearly 150 students and staff members!

Toward the end of the first quarter, our Grizzlies celebrated creativity, courage, and collaboration through an activity inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot. In the story, a student named Vashti doubts her ability to draw until her teacher encourages her to “Just make a mark, and see where it takes you.” One simple dot helps her discover her creative voice and build confidence.

Our Grizzlies took that message to heart! Using a variety of art materials, students and staff created dots of different sizes, colors, and patterns. Together, their individual contributions became a bold, bright mural that now welcomes everyone who passes through the hallway.

Thank you, Mrs. Shinn, for helping our students leave their mark on Millswood—and reminding us how much we can create together! 💚

Student Recognition-- Lodi Adopt-A-Child

Lodi Adopt-A-Child held an Art Show called “Windows of Imagination” for students 3rd through 12th grade. 9 winning art pieces were selected by a panel of judges to be digitally reproduced and displayed in the windows of the building. On Oct 22, members of the community gathered together for the ribbon cutting. The Art show was a partnership of Lodi Adopt-A-Child, Community Partnership for Families and the Lodi Arts Foundation. Other key partners at the event were F&M Bank and the Lodi Chamber of Commerce. Congratulations to Daisy H (7th grade) and Ameryka L (8th grade). We’re so proud of our Grizzly artists who were selected! Be sure to visit the Lodi Adopt-A-Child building. Pine Street just got a lot brighter!
