Take a Survey About Our School Campus Take a Survey About Our School Campus

We need your feedback! You are invited to take a quick survey to help LCPS gain insight into what’s working well and what needs improvement across our schools and school campuses.

You will be asked for input about our school's buildings and grounds. Please note that this feedback is strictly focused on the physical environment and does not include questions about staff, instruction, curriculum or school culture.

Please look for a link from the LCPS Capital Budget team listing lcpssurveys@lcps.org received on April 9!

Don’t miss this chance to be heard! The survey should take no more than 5 minutes.

Many thanks for helping us understand how we can improve our school’s campus.

We know back-to-school time can be…a lot.

• New clothes. (How did they grow so fast?)

• New schedules. (Is it soccer and then ballet, or the other way around?)

• New friends. (Ooh, they live down the street. Maybe we can carpool!)

Here’s one part of back-to-school you don’t have to stress about: buying school supplies. With School Tool Box, all you have to do is find our school’s name and your child’s grade, and you can buy their entire supply list in just a few clicks. No fuss, no lines, no trips to the store.

If only buying new gym shoes could be this easy.

PTO: What does that even mean?? The PTO is a Parent and Teacher Organization that builds community among families, bridges the gap between teachers and parents, and enriches the school experience. The PTO organizes fun events, raises money to help families in our community, and assists with school projects. The Weller PTO will be losing a significant number of parents next year. We're looking for new parents to step in and help our team of awesome volunteers! Being involved in the PTO is a great way to become plugged in and get to know your child's teachers, friends, and fellow parents. We have a variety of open roles with different commitment levels. We'd love to chat more about how you might help.

Here are questions you can ask your children about what will be presented this week in their daily SEL lessons

Problem Solving

As students continue learning about problem-solving, grades K-2 will focus on what was an accident vs. what might have been done on purpose. They will also review how to feel calm before solving problems. Grades 3-5 will focus on perspective-taking when solving problems.

K - Let your child see you taking a moment to feel calm at home when things are busy or stressful. For example, say, “Today was a really busy day. I’m going to take a few slow breaths to help me feel calm.” Invite your child to join you.

1 - When accidents occur at home, take time to apologize and encourage your child to do the same, using the new phrases they learned at school this week.

2 - Ask your child to explain why it can be good to think of more than one way to solve a problem.

3 - Ask your child how they would say a problem respectfully, without blaming anyone.

4 - Talk with your child about an interpersonal problem they’ve had at home. Help your child think about each person’s point of view, and then work together to say the problem respectfully.

5 - Ask your child why it’s important to think about when, where, and with whom it would be best to work on an interpersonal problem.
