NATE’Z NOTEZ
Welcome, my Z family, to the November edition of Natez Notez. You can’t tell it's fall by the weather, but it really is. It has been in the high 60s and low 70s, and with the exception of some brief rain showers, “baby” still hasn’t been put on the battery tender yet. She may have another ride or two in her before the snow starts to fall.
The month of October had two club events. Jason had his “fall leaves drive”. Mark Ingles posted some really nice photos of the scenery. Unfortunately, Cheryle and I couldn’t attend because it was the same weekend our granddaughter got married. If you are Facebook friends with Mark, you can see his photos on our Members' group.
One week later, on Saturday the 10th, we celebrated our active members and guests with our annual Z banquet, again at Maggiano’s. We had 2 special guests in attendance this year. Chris Lenckosz (owner of our sponsor dealership Empire Lakewood Nissan) and his wife, Kristi, joined us for lunch. We awarded our active members their active member gifts, our board members received my thank-you gifts for doing such a great job this year, and this year's President’s award went to the very deserving Mark Ingles.
This year, we gave a special award to Chris and Empire for being “the best ZCCC sponsor ever.” It was once again a great banquet, and thank you to Cheryl McKenney and Tiffany Gordon for making it a memorable afternoon.
The rest of the month of October was/has been quiet, and according to our vice-president, Cheryle, there is nothing on the calendar until December 5th, so other than writing about our Zoom general meeting on November 4th, my notez for December should be very short.
Until then, “Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up”.
Regardz,
Nate

Upcoming Event Details
Holiday Lights Drive
Date: December 5, 2025
Time: 4:00 PM
Host: Mark Ingles
Please mark your calendar for this first-time, “illuminating” event!!
The Plan: We will meet in the Denver Metro Area at a location yet to be determined, then drive to Mark Ingles’s home in northeast Colorado Springs to see his award-winning, televised outdoor holiday lights display and enjoy the wonderful decorations throughout his house. Mark will provide food and drink while we enjoy our time together at his home. Before we leave, he will hand out maps and addresses so you can view other great holiday displays in the Colorado Springs area before you head home.
This will also give you another opportunity, besides the Holiday Party at the Derman’s, to donate to Mark’s Food Drive for Care & Share Food Bank and/or for the Springs Rescue Mission.
More details will be provided as it gets closer.
Mark’s Address: 4910 Nugent Dr., Colorado Springs, 80922
Holiday Party and White Elephant Party
When: December 12, 2026
Where: Derman home
Time: 6:00 PM
Cost: Free (please bring a main dish, side dish, appetizer, or dessert)
Host: Cheryle Derman
ZCCC Points: 1 point for attending
It’s that time of the year when we get together and celebrate the holiday season. So put on your ugly sweater and create a tasty dish to share. Also, please bring a clever gift for the insanely crazy white elephant exchange. One gift per participant, up to $25. Nate, Chloe, and I are looking forward to seeing all of you at our favorite event of the year.
Food Drive
When: Saturday, December 12, 2026
Where: Derman’s home
Time: 6:00 PM
Host: Mark Ingles
ZCCC Points: 1 point for donating (nonperishables or monetary donation).
Because of Mark's home location, his holiday light display (another Z event) can be seen from every direction—even from flights into Colorado Springs! Wanting to give back, I partnered with Care & Share Food Bank in 2014. That first year, I collected 115 pounds of food in an Igloo cooler. By 2017, thanks to a donated chest freezer, I could collect much more, and donations have grown every year—reaching over 7,300 equivalent pounds of food in 2025 with help from ZCCC Members at last year’s Holiday Party!
This year, I’m pulling out all the stops and have set a goal of 10,000 pounds!!! With your help again this year at our holiday party or at the Holiday Lights Drive, I’m hoping to make that goal. So, please bring to one of these events as much nonperishable food as you can fit in your car to support this amazing organization (bottled water allowed, too). You can also bring cash or a check that he will use to go towards the overall food donations. If it's a check, the preferred way would be to make it out to Mark Ingles, and he’ll cash it to buy food, or you can make it out to Care & Share Food Bank, and they will put it toward Mark's total food donations count.
Additionally, in 2021, he also partnered with Springs Rescue Mission by adding a secure donation box in the midst of his display for people to drop off cash or checks. The awesome work of the Mission provides shelter and helps people rebuild their lives. Last year, donations exceeded $1,400, and he's proud to continue supporting their vital work. Please consider a monetary donation to this great organization if you’d prefer, or in addition to the Food Bank support. Checks can be made out to the Springs Rescue Mission.

240Z For Sale
One-owner family (since 1970), rehoming an early Series 1 1970 Datsun 240Z (all VIN and Engine numbers match). One of the first 3,200 imported into the U.S., it has the original dark green “907 Racing Green” color with black interior; original gauges, manuals, tool kit. The cockpit includes the original speedometer, tachometer, clock, Hitachi AM radio, and factory thin three-spoke wooden steering wheel. Original glass, clean interior, and exterior -- garaged for 50 years. It has less than 120K original miles. It has never been in an accident; never repainted or retouched. It has NO RUST!
The original Z-car has a well-preserved interior except for dash cracks – typical in the early Zs – that are covered by a dash cover. Under the hood, it's as clean and maintained as the rest of this coupe. The vents below the rear window and original emblems on the C-pillar are unique to these early Z-cars.
Non-original items include: Mallory dual-point distributor, battery, spark plugs, Nissan exhaust pipe, Nissan oil cooler, dash cover. It also has a separate Greenwich Mean Time antenna & receiver. Cherished and well-maintained, this ‘head-turning’ Z is ready for its new home.
