Dear Bruin Families,

Believe it or not, we are seven weeks into the semester with just two weeks until Fall Break! This is the home stretch of the first quarter, and staying focused right now makes all the difference.

As we approach the end of the quarter, here is how students can finish strong:

  • Prioritize Attendance: Every minute of instruction counts. Being present and engaged every day gives students the best foundation for success.

  • Clear Out Missing Assignments: Check class portals regularly. Missing assignments stack up quickly, so turned-in work is an easy win for grades.

  • Reach Out for Help: Asking a teacher for help with a tough concept or assignment isn't a struggle—it’s a strength. Our team is here to support them.

  • Push to the Finish Line: Fall Break is close, but important learning is happening every day until then.

How Parents & Guardians Can Help: Please take a moment this week to check grades together with your student, encourage clear communication with their teachers, and make daily attendance a top priority.

Let’s continue to live the Bruin Way by taking responsibility for our learning, lifting each other up, and making every day count.

In Community,

Julie Hummel

Phones down, heads up. Creating connections in the classroom.

As we settle back into the routines of school, please help us remind your children that their phones should be put away during school. During school hours, campuses are a "no phone zone" and students will be expected to keep their phones off and put away.

This initiative is designed to support a more focused learning environment while encouraging real, in-person connection outside of the digital world. For more information and answers to frequently asked questions, please visit www.lodiusd.net/be-present.

Students, if you would like to hear a song played in Tardy Sweeps? Please use the link below to request songs for the tardy sweep. Please make sure you use YouTube and it needs to be clean or instrumental version only. Otherwise, the song will not be played. Students will need (1) Minga Buck for us to play a song.

E-Bike and Scooter Safety E-Bike and Scooter Safety

If your child is riding an E-Bike or scooter to school, please review the following information provided to Lodi USD by law enforcement to ensure that your child is following regulations and is riding with safety.

    • E-Bikes - There are three classifications of e-bikes. All e-bikes must have an electric motor of less than 750 watts.
      • Class 1 and 2: These e-bikes are similar to regular bicycles. They can be identified as pedal assisted with an electric motor that reaches a maximum speed of 20mph. Class 1 and 2 riders must wear a helmet while riding and adhere to the same regulations as regular bicycles.
      • Class 3: These e-bikes are pedal assisted with an electric motor that ceases to provide power at 28mph. These e-bikes have age restrictions, riders must be 16 years or older, and must be wearing a helmet at all times when riding.

    • Motorized Scooters - Motorized scooters are two-wheeled devices with a floorboard or seat, and are powered by an electric motor.
      • Riders of motorized scooters must be 16 years of age or older, and must have a valid driver's license or learner's permit to legally ride. Riders must also wear a helmet

Please help us keep students safe by ensuring these regulations are followed. Thank you!

School Site Council - Parent Elections School Site Council - Parent Elections

Each year we elect parent members to our school councils. We are currently electing new members to serve on our School Site Council for the 2026-2027 school year. The BCHS School Site Council (SSC) is an elected body with the important role of overseeing the School Plan, ensuring it supports the goals of the school and district, and assessing periodically the effectiveness of the program. There are two (3) parent openings on the School Site Council.

SSC is made up of five parents, one student, the principal, three classroom teachers and one other staff member who is classified or itinerant staff member.

Meetings are held once a month on Mondays from 4:15 to 5:15 PM.

If you are interested in having your name placed on the ballot and serving on School Site Council you can complete this electronic form or turn in a completed paper copy.

Student Chromebook Student Chromebook

In order to make our student accounts more secure, LodiUSD has begun a two step verification process when they log into their Chromebook.

We had all students choose their two step verification this past week. Some students discovered that this made logging into their Chromebook at home difficult. LodiUSD Technology department has provided these directions to help resolve that problem.

Please see the image below for instructions:

CalKIDS Program CalKIDS Program

CalKIDS is a California State initiative that provides funds for college or career training after high school through the State’s Children Savings Account Program. The Program automatically establishes CalKIDS college savings accounts on behalf of children born in California on or after July 1, 2022 from $25 to $175, and for eligible school-aged participants, designates at least $500 to low-income public school students in grades 1-12 for their higher education expenses. CalKIDS will also provide an additional $500 to students who are identified as either foster or homeless. Enrollment is automatic, and families are not required to contribute.

The ScholarShare 529 Program is California’s Official College Savings Plan which offers families a diverse set of investment options, tax-deferred growth, and withdrawals free from state and federal taxes when funds are used for qualified higher education expenses. Opening a ScholarShare 529 account and linking it to a CalKIDS account can help families expand their growth potential of college savings.

If you have any questions about scholarship opportunities, please visit the Career Center information in our SMORE or contact Janet Ford in our Career Center.

📣 Google Classroom Guardian Emails Now Synced with Aeries 📣 Google Classroom Guardian Emails Now Synced with Aeries

You may have already noticed—guardian email invitations in Google Classroom are now automatically synced with the Aeries database.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Only guardians listed as Educational Rights Holders in Aeries are invited to receive weekly email summaries from Google Classroom.
  • Manual guardian entries are no longer allowed. The list is fully controlled by the Aeries sync and updates nightly.
  • If a guardian isn’t receiving the invitation, please direct them to contact the school office to update their information in Aeries.
  • Guardians who wish to stop receiving emails can simply delete the invitation.
Please do not advise them to click “unsubscribe,” as that will not stop Google from resending the invitation.
  • Guardian summaries include:
    • Missing work
    • Upcoming work
    • Recent announcements, assignments, and questions
    • A preview link to Google Classroom
  • Note: Grades, comments, and student attachments are not included.
