Dear CFC families,

As we approach the holidays and close out the first quarter, I want to take a moment to express my profound gratitude for our entire school community. This time of year can be especially busy, but it also offers a valuable opportunity to pause and reflect on our shared progress.

As our teachers finalize progress reports, I am struck by how quickly this quarter has passed. More importantly, I have been inspired by how our students have seamlessly built connections and supported one another. These seemingly small actions—the quiet moments of peers lifting each other up—can sometimes be overshadowed by the everyday hustle. Yet, these are the very actions that highlight the resilience and positive growth defining our school community.

Our students are not just waiting for success to happen; they are actively taking ownership of their journey. The progress you will see on their reports is a testament to their hard work and determination over these past few months.

I encourage you to take time during the coming weeks to slow down and appreciate the significant steps your student is taking toward their future. Every bit of effort, every connection made, and every small victory is a meaningful part of their path.

We are so proud to partner with you in their education.

Warm regards,

Danielle Koenig

2025 Student Leadership Summit

On October 16th, nearly 100 students in grades 7–12 came together for a day full of learning, growth, and connection. 5 of those students were CFC students. Through powerful breakout sessions and hands-on activities, they built confidence, explored what leadership means to them, and left with practical tools to make a difference in their schools and communities.

Thank you to Mid-State Technical College for hosting and making this day possible. We’re so proud of these future leaders and the energy they brought to the day!

Learner Spotlight Learner Spotlight

Each month we will feature a learner or learners who contributed to our positive school culture. These students were nominated by CFC staff for having demonstrated resilience and perseverance regardless of the obstacles they face in life.

AMIR PEARSON

  • Reason for selection - Amir is the ideal student. He comes in everyday ready to work. He is kind, respectful, helpful and does whatever he needs to do in order to be successful. He is one of the hardest workers in the room and is a positive role model for his peers.
  • Something unique or that you appreciate about CFC - The classes and the teachers here at CFC are very nice and helpful.
  • What do you do in your free time - Go to work, sleep and spend time with family or friends.
  • Plans after graduation - Become a mechanic or a factory worker.

Ms. Carissa Smith

  • Current role - Special Education Teacher
  • Previous roles/grades/schools - 4 years at SPASH. 10th-12th grade special education and co-teaching.
  • Years in education - 9
  • Interesting fact about you - I like freezer burnt ice cream (specifically mint chocolate chip).
  • What makes you CFC proud? - To be part of something bigger than "teaching" and mainstream learning; and having the ability to use a variety of skills and passions integrated into the learning of students.

A NOTE ABOUT CONFERENCES

We believe that a strong partnership between school and home is vital to student success. To facilitate meaningful connections, our parent-teacher-student conferences are designed to be personal and flexible.

Unlike the traditional open-house format, we arrange individual meetings with families on November 11th 4-8 pm, November 17th 11-7pm, and across the last two weeks of November. This one-on-one time allows for a focused conversation about your student's progress. We also offer multiple ways to meet—by phone, virtually, or in-person—to accommodate your family's needs and schedule.

Please contact your student’s homeroom teacher directly to schedule a time that works best for you.
