Heatherwood Middle School
2025/2026 School Year
Here are some important details for the upcoming 2025 - 2026 school year.
Welcome Back Hawks!
We’re already looking ahead with excitement to the 2025–26 school year and can’t wait to welcome both new and returning Hawks back to campus! Whether you're just joining our community or continuing your journey with us, we’re so glad you're here.
At Heatherwood, we believe every student belongs, and we strongly encourage all Hawks to get involved. From National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), over 20 student clubs, and athletics, to academic support during Success Time (Monday–Thursday)—there’s something for everyone to explore and enjoy.
Incoming 6th graders—don’t miss our Where Everybody Belongs (WEB) Orientation on August 22! It’s a great way to meet new friends, connect with mentors, and feel confident about starting middle school.
As we continue to grow, our shared commitment to our core values helps us stay strong and united. At Heatherwood, we live by S.O.A.R.:
- Safety – We create a welcoming, inclusive, and secure environment where everyone can thrive.
- Ownership – We take responsibility for our actions, learning, and growth.
- Achievement – We strive for excellence and celebrate success in all areas—academics, arts, athletics, and beyond.
- Respect – We treat others with kindness and value the diversity and voices of our community.
Let’s continue building a strong and connected Hawk community—one that is proud, resilient, and united by our S.O.A.R. expectations.
Wishing you a joyful, safe, and well-deserved summer break. We look forward to soaring even higher with you in 2025–26!
In partnership,
Dr. Laura Wellington, Principal
Mr. Chris Doll, Assistant Principal

Sports
Fall Sports (Cross Country, Football and Softball ) are scheduled to start in September. All athletic forms are to be completed and signed online through FinalForms in order to be eligible. Paperwork must be completed one week prior to the first day of practice.
· Physical—A current physical needs to be uploaded into FinalForms. A valid physical form is good for 2 years.
· Insurance—All athletes must have insurance coverage. If you don't have insurance, please contact our athletic secretary.
· Athletic Fee—A $40 athletic fee (per sport for 7th and 8th grade) must be paid before the first contest.
· ASB Card—A $15 ASB (one time) card must be purchased before the first athletic contest.
Deadlines for registration are one week prior to the first practice or tryout date. No late additions will be accepted for tryout sports.
Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer are cut sports. It is advised that parents not pay for these sports until after team rosters have been posted.
Sixth graders may practice for Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track (if space is available) but not compete. Sixth graders are not responsible for the $40 athletic fee, but are responsible to pay the $15 ASB fee.
As each sport season begins, please look for additional information on the athletics page of our website. https://www.everettsd.org/domain/1692
New Student Information System
What is a Student Information System (SIS)?
A Student Information System (SIS) is a computer program schools use to keep track of important information about students and teachers. Our current SIS is called eSchoolPlus. It helps us with things like:
- Signing students up for school
- Assigning them to teachers and classes
- Storing medical and academic information
- Managing other day-to-day school data
It also connects to other digital tools we use, like Canvas, Clever, iReady, and Panorama, so everything stays up to date.
How will Synergy help parents?
Synergy is going to make things way easier for families.
- Fewer passwords – You’ll just need one login to access your student’s info, instead of juggling multiple tools, AND you can create and change your own passwords.
- Better communication – Tools like conference scheduling and emergency alerts (coming later) will make it easier for schools to connect with families.
- More accurate info – Since the whole district is using Synergy, the information parents see will be up-to-date and consistent.
- More features coming – Some tools will roll out later, like student data reports and hall pass systems, but the goal is to give families a full, easy-to-use system over time.
Transportation
Please create a transportation plan before and after school with your students. Click here to find your student's bus route. Students should not be on campus before 7:45am unless they are involved in academic/arts events.
Each student needs to know, in advance, if he/she will be riding the bus, walking, or getting a ride from an adult. We expect our campus to be cleared by 3:00pm. If your student plans to stay after school, they need to be part of a Heatherwood sports team, club, ASB or have made previous arrangements with a teacher for academic help. Parents, make sure they have communicated with the teacher and a student pick-up plan is in place.
There is an after-school activity bus available Monday - Thursday for students who are regular bus riders. The bus leaves Heatherwood at 4:15 pm. Students must have a pass from their club adviser to ride.
If a student is going home on a bus with another student, a note (including name and bus number they will be riding) from parent/guardian is required to get a bus pass. Please be sure students request their bus passes before lunchtime.
