A message from your principal A message from your principal

Hello Evergreen Families,

We are heading into a busy season for students as they begin choosing classes for next year. Please check in with your students to see what they share about their schedule requests for this coming fall. We will do everything we can do in order to accommodate all schedule requests.

On Monday, our current 8th grade students will attend an assembly about their neighborhood high school. They will learn about different electives, clubs and activities at the high school. This helps them make wise choices when it comes to their course requests.

As well, our 8th grade students will each have an appointment with staff from their high school on March 12th. These are 15 minute appointments to review their course requests and make any needed changes. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend these meetings. You should receive an invitation today if your child is going on to either Everett HS or Cascade HS.

Students are doing a great job of raising funs for school activities with our current chocolate bar fundraiser. This is a thank you for your support of your child's fundraising. These funds will make a difference in respect to our after school offerings as well as our athletic programs and our whole school celebrations.

When we work together, we create opportunities for our students.

Enjoy your weekend.

Sincerely,

Sara

Inclement Weather Information and VIDEO! Inclement Weather Information and VIDEO!

We know families have questions about how school delays or closures are decided. In the video below, Everett Public Schools leaders walk families through our inclement weather decision-making process and the careful steps we take to keep students, staff, and families safe.

The video explains how we:

  • Monitor weather forecasts using trusted sources

  • Coordinate across departments and with neighboring districts

  • Conduct early-morning, on-the-ground road assessments across five district regions

  • Communicate decisions as early as possible through ParentSquare, our website, social media, and local news outlets

Safety is always our top priority, and these decisions are never taken lightly. We also recognize that conditions can vary across neighborhoods, and families may make different choices based on their circumstances.

Seattle Children's Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic

Seattle Children’s is happy to announce the opening Sept. 30 of a new Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic, the first pediatric-focused psychiatric urgent care in Washington state. We hope you will share this information with your teams.

What: Same-day in-person and virtual (video) visits providing mental and behavioral health crisis assessment, initial treatment recommendations and referral to follow-up resources in the community. Care is provided by our experienced team of licensed mental health therapists, family advocates/case managers, psychiatric advanced practice providers (APPs) and medical assistants.

Who: Designed for youth ages 4 through 17 who are experiencing a mental health crisis and need same-day intervention but do not need the services of an emergency department (ED). We care for all Washington youth ages 4 through 17, including children and teens with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

When: Open daily from noon to 8 p.m.; closed on major holidays.

Where: We see youth in person at Seattle Children’s Magnuson, located at 6901 Sand Point Way NE in Seattle, and through video visits from anywhere in Washington state. We recommend scheduling a same-day in-person appointment online or getting in the virtual line for a video visit. We have very limited capacity to see walk-ins and cannot guarantee walk-in access.

Please encourage families who live outside the Seattle area to use the virtual/video option. They must be physically in Washington state during the video visit.

How: Before scheduling a visit, learn whether to go to Psychiatric Urgent Care or an ED. A referral is not required.

  • For in-person visits, schedule a same-day appointment online. (Scheduling opens at 12:01 am daily.)
  • For video visits from anywhere in Washington state, get in the virtual line to be seen. (The first spots in virtual line open at 11:30 am daily.)
  • Please note that spots in the virtual line will open up throughout the clinic day, please encourage youth and families to regularly check back for availability.
  • Please note we have very limited capacity to see walk-ins and cannot guarantee walk-in access. Please encourage patients/families to schedule an in-person appointment online or get in the virtual line to be seen for a video visit.

Why: This new service – the first of its kind in the Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho region – is part of Seattle Children’s ongoing commitment to building out the continuum of care to ensure children and teens receive the right level of care at the right time. Psychiatric Urgent Care is intended to connect children and teens in Washington state to faster crisis assessment and follow-up resources in the community.

Please note that patients seen in the Psychiatric Urgent Care Clinic will not access other outpatient psychiatry services at Seattle Children’s faster than those referred through the normal process.
