Musician of the Month
December - Itzhak Perlman
Itzhak Perlman
Itzhak Perlman's parents moved from Poland to Tel Aviv, Israel, where he was born and grew up. He was inspired to learn violin by the music he heard on the radio. He travels around the world playing European Classical music and klezmer music, a style from Jewish people in Eastern Europe. Because he had polio as a child, his legs are paralyzed and he walks with crutches or rides a motorized scooter.
In 1993, he was the violin soloist in the soundtrack to the film Schindler's List. We have listened this this stunning music in class and I have included a video of the Main Theme below. Students have been informed that the movie is rated R and they should focus on just the beautiful music created by our Musician of the Month. I hope you enjoy this and many other videos found below!
