New State-Mandated Cell Phone Policy for Students
Dear Howe Families,
We hope your family is off to a great start this school year!
We want to make you aware of a new state law that all Oklahoma public schools, including ours, are required to follow. This law limits student use of cell phones and personal electronic devices during the school day—specifically from the first bell to the last bell. The goal of the law is to reduce distractions, support student learning, and promote a more engaged school environment.
Here’s what this means at Howe:
🔕 During the School Day: Students will not be allowed to use personal devices (including phones, smartwatches, and earbuds) from bell to bell.
✅ School-Issued Devices: Devices provided by the school are not affected and will continue to be used for learning.
🩺 Health & Safety Exceptions: Students who use devices for medical reasons (like glucose monitoring) or have accommodations in an IEP or 504 Plan will still be allowed to use their devices as documented.
🚨 Emergencies: If a student needs to use their phone for an urgent situation, such as a health emergency or lockdown, they are permitted to do so.
We understand that this is a change, and we appreciate your support in helping our students make the adjustment. We’re here to partner with you and ensure that our students stay focused, safe, and successful throughout the day.
📄 To View the Full Policy:

FREE breakfast and lunches to all students
We are thrilled to announce that our school has qualified for the CEP Child Nutrition status, providing FREE breakfast and lunches to all students for this school year!
For the past two years, we have proudly subsidized the cost of meals, absorbing over $100,000 each year to ensure no burden was placed on our parents and families. This year, thanks to the CEP program, we can continue supporting our students' nutritional needs without any additional cost to you.
Together, we are committed to fostering a healthy and successful learning environment for all. Thank you for your continued support!
