From the Desk of Principal Cherry

Welcome to March. As we are well into the 3rd quarter of school, many amazing things are happening not just in the classroom but also in many of our extra and co-curricular activities. Music is gearing up for Festival in April and our winter sports just finished up their season. In addition, our PTBC once again sold Valentine grams earlier in the month and AVID sponsored the Light Up the Night Dance. As we continue to work hard in the classroom, spring break will provide a short break for us to return and finish out the year strong.

Engagement Survey

Parents, we want to hear from you!

Schools across the state are participating in Idaho’s custom, parent engagement survey. This survey gives you the chance to tell us how schools are doing in meeting your needs.

The survey takes only a few minutes and your responses are anonymous, and they will be critical to helping us find ways to maximize satisfaction, engagement, and communication.

RESPOND BY March 31 - don’t wait!

Note From Counselors

On Thursday, March 16, 2023, all 9th-grade students at West will have an opportunity to participate in the PSAT 9, a test offered by the College Board that helps students get early feedback on their knowledge in the areas that matter for college and career readiness. The cost of the test has been covered by the district so that all students may participate. All 9th graders will be excused from periods 1-5 to participate in testing. Students will be assigned a testing room at West and those details will be shared in the week leading up to the test. We appreciate any efforts to avoid scheduling appointments that would require your child to leave school during this time. If you have questions or concerns about your child's participation in the PSAT 9, please contact John Ruprecht at john.ruprecht@boiseschools.org.

Message From West PTBC (Parent Teacher Booster Club)

The meeting for the PTBC this year will be on Tuesday, March 14th from 7:00-8:00pm in the library. We really need the parents of 9th graders to attend so that a committee can be formed for the Freshman Farwell. For those new to West or having first time 9th graders, in May, the 9th graders have an evening celebration and dance that only 9th graders get to attend. It is a very special event that the parents plan and host.

Message from Student Council

The food drive was a huge success! Over 985 items were collected. Thank you to everyone who helped us so that we could help our community.
