Input Needed: Principal Hiring Process Input Needed: Principal Hiring Process

Hello, Eastside School Community,

In November, Principal Craig Coulthart announced that he plans to retire at the end of the school year. I am grateful to Mr. Coulthart for his faithful service to the Sun Prairie community.

A change in leadership can elicit lots of questions, ideas, and feelings. I am confident in the educators and parents/caregivers at Eastside and know that together, we can navigate a hiring process that will lead to the successful hire of the next principal. I will be at Eastside for some in-person meetings with the school leadership team, a staff meeting and with ESCO to discuss the hiring process with you further.

There are some ways you can help with the hiring process right now.

  • Take a few minutes to complete this survey to provide your input into the hiring process. Information gathered will be confidential, and themes gathered will be shared in the hiring process.

  • Spread the word to inform any highly qualified candidates about the principal position at Eastside Elementary School. More information can be found on our Human Resources website.

Thank you for your support. Any questions about the information shared in this message should be directed to Rick Mueller, Director of Elementary Teaching, Learning and Equity, at rlmuell@sunprairieschools.org.

Sincerely,

Rick Mueller

Atentamente,

Rick Mueller

Hunger Heroes Fund: Helping Families in Need

Did you know that some of our students have negative lunch account balances? This means they owe money for school meals. Our school district covers these costs, but that takes money away from important educational programs.

That's where the Hunger Heroes Fund comes in! This amazing program helps pay down those negative balances. By doing so, it ensures that every student can enjoy a nutritious meal without worry. At the same time, it allows our district to keep investing in great learning opportunities for all students.

How You Can Help

Want to make a difference? You can become a Hunger Hero too! Here's how:

1. Contact our Nutrition Department to learn about donation options

2. Choose how much you'd like to give

3. Feel great knowing you've helped a family in need

Your donation, big or small, can have a real impact on a student's life. It's a simple way to show that our school community cares for each other. Remember, a well-fed student is a student ready to learn and grow!

If you have any questions about the Hunger Heroes Fund or how to donate, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Nutrition Department.

Family Reminders Family Reminders

Gun safety is a shared responsibility that affects the well-being of our entire community. Visit the district’s Gun Safety Resource page for more information.

We want our families to stay informed and connected to resources. If you need information or support visit Resources for Immigrant Students & Families webpage.

Tip Line Entry

New Electronic Safety Tip Line

The safety and security of our students and staff is a top priority for the district. We have been teaching our students to say something to a trusted adult when they see something unsafe. Sometimes, though, there are barriers to reporting safety issues in person. Tip lines are one common approach that schools use to promote school and student safety and well-being. Tip lines are designed to provide students or other members of the public with a safe and confidential way to report a threat to a student or school safety.

To that end, we have created an Electronic Safety Tip Line available on the district website. The e-Tip Line allows students, parents, or community members to report weapons, threats of violence, bullying, sexual harassment, threat of suicide, drugs, and any other activity that could potentially endanger students, staff, and property.

We are developing a communication plan to roll this out to students in upper elementary, middle school, and high school. The e-Tip Line is available on the district website from the “Families” menu and “Quicklinks” and can also be found on the district bullying and safety webpages. If a student wishes to file a bullying report, please fill out a Bullying Report Form on the website.
