Celebrating our Assistant Principals
Although National Assistant Principal Week fell during Spring Break this year, I didn’t want the opportunity to pass without recognizing two incredible leaders who make a difference at NBMS every single day.
We are fortunate to have two outstanding assistant principals, Suzette Takei and Eddie Burchfiel, whose dedication, leadership, and heart for our school community are truly exceptional. Their impact is felt in countless ways, both seen and unseen, and they play a vital role in making NBMS the special place that it is.
Whether responding to the unexpected, supporting students and staff, or helping guide the day-to-day operations of our school, Dr. Takei and Mr. Burchfiel consistently step up with positivity, professionalism, and a commitment to doing what is best for kids. No task is too big or too small, they are always ready to jump in wherever they are needed.
Their leadership strengthens our team, supports our teachers, and helps create a positive and productive learning environment for all students.
Dr. Takei and Mr. Burchfiel, thank you for the many ways you serve, support, and lead. NBMS is better because of you! If you would like to send a note of thanks, feel free to email them: Dr. Takei, Mr. Burchfiel.

Attendance Make-Up Begins
Attendance make-up opportunities are now available for students who have exceeded the allowable number of absences. Students are permitted up to 18 absences per school year. Any absences beyond 18 (whether excused or unexcused) must be made up.
Please note: There will be no summer school option this year, so all attendance make-up must be completed during the regular school year.
Attendance Make-Up Options:
- Wednesday mornings (before school): 6:30–7:30 AM
- After school (Monday–Thursday): 3:00–4:15 PM
- After-school bus: Available Thursdays only
- Community Nights: Students may also attend to earn make-up time
We encourage families to begin planning now to ensure all required hours are completed.
If you have any questions, please contact our school social worker, Emily Mitchell, or Principal Honeycutt.

No Zeroes Party - April 17
Created and Sponsored by our Student Council.....We’re excited to celebrate student responsibility and effort with a Mini Field Day this Friday, April 17th during Power Hour!
Students who have NO zeroes in ANY class will earn the opportunity to head out to the football field and enjoy a fun-filled time with friends and classmates.
Field Day Games Include:
- Limbo
- Bucket Toss
- Red Light, Green Light
- Tug of War
- Ping Pong Ball Pipe Race
- Hot Potato
Student Council Leaders would like to encourage students to stay on top of their work as we begin a new quarter. They want every student to have the opportunity to participate!
Keep up with assignments, turn in all work, and avoid zeroes—everyone who meets the goal will be able to join in the fun.
Let’s make it a great start to the quarter and earn our way to the field!

Students with a DAR....it's time to plan for next year.
This is a reminder to parents of students with a DAR (Discretionary Admission Release).
Please note that the DAR application window opened on February 15th. Because Infinite Campus automatically enrolls students in their zoned school for the upcoming year, it is essential that continued-placement DARs are processed promptly so those students are correctly attached to their current school in the system. The earlier these continued-placement DARs are completed, the smoother the transition will be.
