Wingate Elementary
October 2026
Wingate Families-
A big thank you to the following parents who volunteered to help on Patriot Day! We appreciate you giving up some of your work day or personal time to come and make this day impactful for our students!
Guest Readers-Michelle Beatty, Meghan Lomeli, Jessica Michalke, Antonio Orasco
Community Heroes-Michelle Beatty, Evan Lomeli, Nicole Risky, Angela Petersen and the East Side Fire Department
We had a fun assembly this past month with BMX Rider Matt Wilhelm for our K-5 students. Matt performed an hours worth of tricks for students and talked to them about setting personal goals, working hard to achieve those goals and standing up for others when someone is being unkind. We hold four assemblies a year similar to this-all paid for with Fun Run money that is raised each year at Wingate. Thanks for participating and helping our Booster Run be successful again this year!
It was great to see so many of you last Friday at Donuts with Grown-Ups-a great way to start our day. Looking forward to seeing you at school sometime in the month of October! Thanks for your continued support.

Positive Office Referrals-
Congratulations to these students who were recognized for displaying core values and received a positive phone call home and a free Dippin Dots at lunch or coin for the book vending machine!
Tahiry Khan, Kindergarten-Tahiry is a wonderful and caring friend! She is always willing to help others and goes out of her way to make her classmates feel supported and included. Tahiry comes to school with a positive attitude and a bright smile each day. Her kindness and happiness make our classroom a better place!
Emmy Beasley, Kindergarten-Emmy is a star helper in the classroom! When she sees that more than one student needs my help in writing, she jumps into action. She is like a mini teacher, showing students the correct ways to make letters and even sometimes pulling out a highlighter to let the student trace when they become frustrated. I am so thankful at this time of year that Emmy is there to help students in such a caring way.
Jake Lambert, 1st Grade-Jake is a great role model in our classroom. He is helpful, works hard, participates and cares for others around him. Jake enters our class everyday with a smile and is ready to learn. He is a wonderful student and classmate.
Kylie Kloess, 1st Grade-Kylie shows what it means to follow the Wingate Core Values. She is respectful to everyone in our school, she is responsible by being a role model to others, she is accepting each day and helps students in our room who may be feeling left out, she follows safety expectations, and she shows up each day ready to learn. Kylie spent time this week helping out a few students in our room who needed extra support with morning work and gave reminders of what it looks like to work hard using whole body listening skills. Keep up the great work Kylie!
Haylee Rosenthal, 2nd Grade-Haylee stood up for her friend when she was treated unfairly and supported her through the situation.
Jackson Millard, 2nd Grade-Jackson is a respectful and responsible student who consistently listens attentively, maintains good eye contact, and follows directions in a timely manner. He is a positive role model for his classmates and always arrives at school ready to learn. Jackson stays focused, participates appropriately, and remains on task throughout the day.
Brayden Lomeli, 2nd Grade-Brayden consistently demonstrates respect by paying close attention to the teacher, making appropriate eye contact, and following directions promptly. He sets a positive example for the entire class. Brayden always comes to school prepared and ready to learn, and he consistently stays focused and on task throughout the day.
Kynlee Schaefer, 3rd Grade-Kynlee consistently goes above and beyond to help her classmates! Before pack-up, she will pack up the belongings of students who are still in their gifted classroom. No one asks her to do this—she simply notices that her classmates need help and takes it upon herself to make sure they are ready to go. Her kindness, responsibility, and thoughtfulness are wonderful examples of being a caring classmate!
Everett Nixon, 4th Grade-Everyday Everett comes in ready to learn and with a positive attitude. He is always there to help those in need (including myself). He consistently treats others with kindness and respect. If someone is in need of a group, Everett is ready to invite them in. Every time I see him, Everett is going above and beyond the Core Values. He is someone that I can count on to be a leader. I couldn't be more prouder of Everett.
Bristol Kloess, 5th Grade-Bristol has been an amazing student leader in fifth grade this year. She is consistently participating in class, including others in group activities when she notices that they do not have a group, and providing assistance to her classmates when they are confused. On multiple occasions she has asked to help in various ways around the classroom such as offering to write down the notes that we take in class for students that are absent.
Gabriel Johnson, 5th Grade-A classmate was upset and causing a disturbance in the classroom. When other students were noticing, Gabriel reminded the other kids to stay focused and not stare at the student. He showed respect and responsible choices in how he handled the situation and was a good role model for others at that moment.

Parent Teacher Conferences & Report Cards-
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held at Wingate on October 21 from 4:00-8:00 PM and October 22 from 11:00-6:00 PM. Our expectation is that 100% of parents will attend conferences with their child's teacher. Please sign up early for a time slot that best fits your schedule! A hard copy of 1st Quarter Report Cards will be handed out during conferences, as well as testing results from the 2026 IAR for students in grades 4-5.
I will be sending out an email this week with the link for conferences. Please look for that email to sign up for a time.
Impact Aid Forms-
Impact Aid Forms will be coming home with students very soon. Impact Aid is revenue from the Federal Government that is provided to our District based on the number of students who are federally connected. It is very important to keep all family guardians in mind when completing this form as they could meet the qualifications for Impact Aid even if you do not. You will need to complete this form for each child in your family.
A 100% completion will help ensure that Mascoutah School District receives the funding necessary to continue providing our students with the best opportunities available to them. Please assist our community in completing the brief form.

Halloween Dress Up Day-
Students can wear costumes to school on Halloween, Friday, Oct. 30th if they choose. Please keep the following in mind when choosing a costume to wear to school:
- School appropriate, no toy weapons, no gore/scary, no masks (we need to be able to see student's faces to know who they are)
- Please keep in mind the costumes need to be something easy enough for all age students, including PreK and Kindergarten, to get on and off independently in order to use the restroom. Also costumes needs to be something appropriate that students can sit in a chair, sit on the floor and run around at recess in. If you have questions about the appropriateness of a costume, please contact Mrs. Enriquez.
