Dear Doyon Families,
We hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! Although the weather brought plenty of rain, we trust you found time to rest and enjoy special moments together. When students returned on Wednesday, they were eager to jump back into learning. It was wonderful to see them quickly settle into routines and reconnect with teachers and friends. Despite the short week, it was certainly filled with energy and joy!
A heartfelt thank you to all the families and faculty who joined us for our first School Meeting of the year. We’re excited to continue the important work of strengthening our school community and ensuring that the Paul F. Doyon Memorial School is the very best it can be. Please remember that even if you’re not an elected School Council member, you’re always welcome to attend meetings and share your voice.
Later that same evening, we held our second FRIES meeting of the year. Thank you to everyone who joined and offered support! Both the School Council and FRIES meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, alternating between in-person and virtual sessions.
Earlier today, our fourth and fifth grade students had the opportunity to explore the Fire Safety Trailer with the Ipswich Fire Department. Each class spent time discussing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, creating family escape plans, and practicing how to safely exit a building in an emergency. We are so grateful to the Ipswich Fire Department for providing this valuable and engaging safety experience!
As always, if you need anything, we’re here to support you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or wonderings.
Warmly,
Mr. Whitehouse-Mullen & Mrs. Benincasa
Doyon CARES
A is for Assertion!
Knowing how to tell others about your needs and preferences can be hard. One strategy we shared with students this week was the use of, "I Statements." The linked video is intended to support adults who are guiding children in the use of assertion; we thought it might be helpful as you engage in CARES conversations at home.
School Safety
Curious about school safety procedures? Take a peek at the documents displayed below. These documents are shared with students at the start of the school year by Detective Joe Perna, our School Resource Officer. The documents may serve as a guide to support families in discussing school safety. As always, please be in touch with questions around school safety at the Paul F. Doyon Memorial School.

Small FRIES
No Boo’s About It!
The Small FRIES are proud to launch their very first child-led fundraiser—a Band-Aid Drive in support of our school nurse, Mrs. Sforza!
From October 1st – October 31st, families are encouraged to send in a small box of band-aids. There will be a box outside in the front of the school or students are welcome to drop them off to the front desk. It may seem simple, but these little donations will make a big impact in keeping Nurse Sforza’s office stocked and ready for every boo-boo.
Have fun with it—scoop up the silliest, spookiest, or most colorful band-aids you can find!
We are so thankful for even the smallest support—because every single box adds up to comfort, care, and smiles for our Doyon kids.
Together, this small initiative will make a big difference as the year progresses.
Thank you,
Your Small FRIES
Green Team News!
Here is the recipe we used:
3 large tomatoes, diced
1/2 white onion, small dice
1 lime, juiced
1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
1/2 teaspoon salt
Stir all ingredients together in a large bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Can add diced fresh jalapeño as well to make it spicy! Or add all ingredients together a blender and pulse to make a smooth salsa. Enjoy with corn tortilla chips.
🎃 The Green Team is still collecting used Halloween costumes for our costume shop and swap at the Spooky Walk. The collection bin will outside of Doyon until Thursday October 2nd! 🎃
Nurse's Notes
Dear Doyon Families,
A big thank you to all the families and students that participated in the flu clinic here at Doyon this week! We had over forty people get their vaccines on Thursday and over sixty vaccines were administered!
We are so appreciative to Conley's Drug Store for making this happen and supporting our schools! It was convenient for families to get their shots together here at Doyon.
If you missed it....no worries! You can get your flu vaccine from your own primary care doctor or Conley's has vaccines available from 10-5 every weekday with no pre-registration necessary.
Now for the other news at Doyon....
I am hearing rumblings and rumors of some lice cases across all grade levels. While we no longer check whole classes or send individual class letters home due to confidentiality, I am happy to check those exposed or close contacts to relieve some anxiety which I'm sure this topic creates-just call or email. In the meantime, it is a good idea to keep hair tied back and use spray such as fairy tales or tea tree oil shampoo as preventative measures. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
