Mr. Macken's Message

Centerville Families,

This past month, our students have been learning about Perseverance through our Character Strong work.

We talk about perseverance as pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles, especially during moments when something feels hard or when it would be easier to give up. Students have been practicing skills like focusing, organizing, and goal-setting as tools to help them grow during those moments.

As part of this work, students across the school created an Olympic-themed display representing their personal goals. Each goal now fills the Olympic rings you will see in the video below.

We invite you to watch and celebrate the effort, creativity, and perseverance our students have shown. As a family, you might also talk about ways you practice perseverance at home.

Thank you for partnering with us in helping our students Be Strong.

Centennial Preschool Registration is Underway
The Centennial School District offers high-quality part-day and full-day preschool experiences designed to prepare students, ages 3-5, and their families for success in kindergarten. Our 4-Star Parent Aware rated program teaches both academic and social skills using a “learning-through-play” philosophy. Full-day classrooms are located at each of the elementary schools in the Centennial School District; part-day classrooms, including our Outdoor Explorers class, are at the Early Childhood Center. Registrations received between February 2 – February 22 will be included in the placement lottery. Registration will remain open after the lottery for remaining seats. Preschool Program and Registration Information can be found here.

It’s Not too Late to Register for Early Childhood Screening
Early childhood screening is a requirement for students going to kindergarten in September 2026.

Early Childhood Screening is a free, simple check of a young child's health and development. The program connects parents and children to early childhood programs and community resources. Screening should be done between the ages of 3 and 5 years old and is required for public school attendance. It does not determine kindergarten readiness. We still have the following monthly screening dates available: March 5, April 10, May 7. Schedule an appointment here . If you have any questions or need assistance, send an email to ecscreening@isd12.org or call the Early Childhood office at 763-792-6120.
