Kia ora koutou Vogeltown whānau, welcome to the newsletter for Week 8 of Term 1.

Once again, our school has been a hive of activity. The weather has certainly helped with our outdoor activities - Rippa Rugby skill sessions for our seniors, loose parts play for our juniors and swimming sports for our seniors. The classrooms also continue to be busy places, with lots of amazing class work and learning. It is really pleasing to see our learners totally engaged in their learning.

In Week 1 of Term 2 we are having our learning conferences. Bookings for these can now be made following these simple steps:

Go to Skool Loop

Click on bookings

Select the teacher/teachers you would like to see

Select a day and time

Learning conferences are a great way to connect with your child/ren's teacher. If you need help making a booking please feel free to contact the school office.

A reminder that next week we have a short week and will finish school on Thursday, due to Good Friday, and then in week 10 we won't start school until the Wednesday due to Easter Monday and Tuesday.

Good luck to all of our Weetbix Tryathlon children who are participating in the event next week. This is a great opportunity to go out and have some fun with your peers and the wider community. I am sure you will all do us proud. Please contact the school office to let us know if your child will be absent from school on this day.

A big thanks to Mrs Michelle Sleep who has been busy organising all the sports teams for our school. This is a massive job and we are so thankful to have Michelle able to do this for the school! We continue to promote sport through our newsletters, keep our kids involved in sporting/whānau activities at school and develop skills through our 'Healthy Active Learning' sessions. It is great to see this translate to lots of kids involved in Vogeltown sports teams!

Have a great weekend whānau.

Aroha nui,

Mrs Seed and the VS team

On Thursday we participated in the Odd/Bright Socks for Down Syndrome fundraiser for Mr Goodwin and his family - in particular his daughter Isla who is needing to go to Australia for some therapy. We were blown away by the support of our community and at our whole school assembly today, we presented them with a cheque for $677.80!

Learning at Vogeltown School comes in many forms - learning through play (loose parts play at lunchtime at the junior school), rippa rugby skills; learning in the the classroom (artwork from Room 11, Kapa Haka); learning sportsmanship (tryathlons). Have a look at all of this learning in the photos below.

A special mention must go out to the Brewer whānau who kindly donated 'Go Wild' passes to our tryathlon first place winners.

VOGELTOWN SCHOOL FEES/DONATION VOGELTOWN SCHOOL FEES/DONATION

zoom_out_map

A reminder to everyone that we do not ask for a school donation/fee at Vogeltown School. The Vogeltown Board opted in to the Ministry of Education donation scheme for 2024, which means we get paid a donation from the government and we do not ask families to contribute to any 'curriculum related' costs - including transport and events like Life Education.

More information can be found on the Ministry of Education's website.
