Dyer ES 2026-2027 School Council

Dear Dyer Elementary Families,

Strong schools are built on strong community support, and here at Dyer Elementary, we deeply value the involvement of our families and community partners. As your principal, I invite you to join me this year in our continued effort to make our school even better.

Our School Council plays a vital role in our success. It brings parents, community members, teachers, and administrators together to foster mutual understanding and collaborate on ideas for school improvement. This is a great opportunity to represent our community and help shape the future of our school.

Role of School Council Members

School council members are key to this partnership and will:

• Maintain a school-wide perspective on important issues.

• Attend four council meetings throughout the year.

• Participate in training programs.

• Act as a valuable link between the school and the community.

• Encourage other parents and community members to get involved.

• Work to improve student achievement and performance.

Nominations & Eligibility

We are seeking nominations for parent and parent/business representatives for the 2026–2027 school year.

• Parent representatives must have a child enrolled at Dyer Elementary.

• Standard terms are for two years, though parents of 5th graders are eligible for a one-year term.

Meeting Schedule (2026–2027)

Our council will meet four times this year:

• September 8, 2026: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM @ Dyer ES

• October 20, 2026: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM @ Mountain View High School

• January 26, 2027: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM @ Dyer ES

• March 16, 2027: 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM @ Dyer ES

Note: An additional meeting to attend a GCPS School Board Meeting may be scheduled in the spring.

If you are interested in joining our school council, please let me know by Friday, August 28th, 2026. You can submit your name by completing our electronic nomination form.
