Interview Questions with Producers - GONE!!!
Instead of doing producer questions, we are going to change it up this year. You are going to create a flyer on a regular size paper that showcases your project in cooperation with your producer. This sounds daunting but we don't want to limit your creativity. So think about why you choose your producer, promote your producer, or promote the beef industry all together. The only requirement is that the flyer has to have your producer's name easily visible. We also want your name on there so there is a connection!
Logistics: Due Friday morning, two copies, 8.5"x11" paper (can be horizontal or vertical)
Ideally, I would love to have these at check-in on Thursday night so we can have ready for display Friday morning. But if you want your final weight or ROG on there, then is it absolutely due on Friday morning of the fair at 8:00 with Record Books. You can print yourself or send to spaisley3@unl.edu for us to print. Please have two copies ready if you are printing yourself - one will go in your record book in case something happens to the other one and the second one will be laminated by our office to be displayed in the barn. Since a regular paper is kind of small, we will judge them first, then hang them up with your calf OR add to the green wall in the barn for everyone to see.
Record Books - Must be Turned in Friday of Fair at 8:00 a.m. to Scalehouse
You are allowed to download the excel files, edit and print at home. We suggest you print each page individually instead of printing entire workbook at one time. You may need to select "Scale to one Page" when you print to get it print on one page. If you do not want to print, you can come to the office to get a hard copy that youth can write on. If you have any issues with any cells not being able write in, contact Sarah. Many people were having problems, especially with Senior book, but I believe all of the issues have been fixed. We have made them into fillable PDFs as well. Hopefully that will allow you all to be successful!
NEW IN 2026: Reformatting by creating your book or adding pages that are not asked for have caused some confusion for judges. ANY ALTERATIONS to record books or PAGES ADDED will result in a lowering of score. The only additional pages may be multiple Project Logs or Feed Changes pages are needed. If you want to tell a bigger story about your animal, I highly recommend filling out an Achievement Application after fair.
