Hello Families,

We’ve had an exciting and engaging week here at Morris, filled with curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning!

Our Annual Science Fair was a wonderful success. Students proudly showcased their hard work through a wide variety of thoughtful and innovative projects. From creative experiments to detailed investigations, it was clear how much effort and enthusiasm went into each display. We are so proud of our young scientists for their dedication and for sharing their learning with the school community.

Thank you to Erica Robins and Erica Telle for organizing the science fair.

In celebration of National Reading Month, we’ve also enjoyed some very special activities. Our fifth grade students took on the role of reading mentors by visiting Pre-K through second grade classrooms to read picture books. This was a meaningful experience for both the older and younger students, helping to build connections while fostering a love of reading.

Additionally, we were delighted to welcome cast members from Lenox Memorial Middle and High School’s production of The Little Mermaid. They visited classrooms to share their excitement for the arts and connect with our students, bringing a bit of theatrical magic into our school day.

Our Pre-K students also had a memorable moment this week during “Donuts for Grown-Ups,” where they shared a special message with their families. It was a heartwarming event that highlighted the strong connections between home and school.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It’s a joy to see our students learning, growing, and supporting one another in so many ways.

Morris PTO Birthday Lunches

The Morris PTO celebrates Morris elementary student birthdays with a special, monthly birthday lunch. At their lunch period, students with birthdays that month get a small ice cream or popsicle treat, a birthday sticker, and a little birthday prize. Here is the schedule for the PTO Birthday Lunches this school year:

April: Friday, April 10th

May: Friday, May 1st

June: Monday, June 1st

July: Friday, June 4th

Parents and caregivers with active CORIs on file can participate in the PTO birthday lunches by helping to hand out treats and prizes. If you’d like to volunteer to help at one or more of the PTO birthday lunches, please email Haley Holmes (haleykayeholmes@hotmail.com).

CORI and DCF Background Checks for End-of-Year Activities

As we begin planning for our upcoming end-of-year events and activities, we want to remind families that any parent or guardian who plans to volunteer must have an up-to-date CORI and DCF background check on file with the school.

If you are interested in volunteering, please make sure your paperwork is completed ahead of time.

  • If you already have a CORI on file, please check that it is still current.

  • If this is your first time completing a CORI, please come to Morris School with a valid ID so we can process your form.

If you need to complete or renew your CORI/DCF background check, please contact:

  • Amy Freeman – afreeman@lenoxps.org

  • Ana Carpenter – acarpenter@lenoxps.org

Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe while supporting our end-of-year events!
