Effective January 1, 2025, several updates will be implemented to medical plans as we continue our commitment to providing quality coverage. As you may know, Parkway School District is self-insured, meaning we directly fund medical claims. Due to rising healthcare costs, adjustments are necessary to help cover these increased expenses.

We want to minimize any impact on our employees, so Parkway will cover the majority of the increase in medical plan coverage. We have been fortunate not to have an increase in our medical premiums for the past three years.

Due to rising healthcare costs nationwide, Parkway Schools will have a 6% total increase in medical plan premiums. Again, we want to minimize the impact on you, so Parkway will cover the majority of the increase.

Parkway will cover 4% of this increase, meaning employees will only have a 2% increase. Below is a breakdown of what this will look like per paycheck.

We understand that rising healthcare costs affect everyone, and we are committed to minimizing the impact on our staff while maintaining a quality benefits program.

Premium Plan: There are no updates to the plan design for 2025. The rate changes are outlined in the chart above.

Base Plan: There are no updates to the deductible. The in-network out-of-pocket max will increase from $2000 for individuals and $4000 for families to $3000 and $6000, respectively.

High Deductible Plan: To comply with updated IRS regulations for high-deductible health plans, the deductible for individuals will increase slightly from $3,200 to $3,400. The deductible for families will not change. In addition, Parkway will increase the annual district contribution to your HSA from $1,440 this year to $1,570 in 2025. The January HSA district contribution will be $650, with an additional $40 per paycheck for the remainder of the year.
