LFHS Band Notes

Congratulations to all band students for their spirited performances throughout the football season, culminating in Homecoming and Senior Night (pictured above)!

Special thanks to our Band Team Parents, Jane Slover and Matt Baranko, for keeping us well-fed, and to our students on the Band Leadership Team for all their hard work to make the season a success! I hope you enjoyed our time under the Friday Night Lights! Go Scouts!

and now, here's what's coming next...

Please join us for our first "formal" concert in the RMA! We have an exciting program planned filled with surprises and featuring our Combined LFHS Bands, Fall Jazz Band and Combo, Flute Ensemble, Brass Quintet, and Saxophone Quintet. Bring your friends and family--it should be fun for all ages!

• Mandatory Dress Rehearsal: Tuesday, October 27, 7-8:30 pm, in the RMA. (jazz at 6:45)
• Band student call time on 10/29 is 6:30 pm.
• Students may wear school/performance appropriate costumes OR their band tuxedo/gown
• must be able to play instrument properly
• nothing gory or risqué
• no inflatables or weapons
• We will do an encore performance the next day during school!
• Friday, October 30, 10-11 am (3rd-4th period)
• Audience will be 4th-8th grade students from area schools.

Our Holiday Ensembles are student-led groups that rehearse in Nov-Dec.

Sign-up in the band room and have fun making music in a relaxed setting!

Fall Jazz will end their season with a performance at the Halloween Concert.

Winter Jazz will begin rehearsals the first week of November.

We have openings for 2 trumpets and 1 trombone--see Ms. Kessler if you are interested!

Jazz Combo volunteered their time and talents to play music for the Great Full Market in Waukegan and the Promise of Liberty reception for the Lake Bluff History Museum this month!

Call time is 7:15 pm.

Attire is Tuxedos and Gowns with black dress shoes!

This is a huge honor and a testament to their hard work and dedication. They will participate in full day festivals with other top high school musicians in our area culminating in performances. Band and Orchestra on November 7 at New Trier HS. Jazz on November 21 at Zion-Benton HS.

District 7 Orchestra: Jason Slover, French horn

District 7 Band: Evan Schwartz, tuba

District 7 Jazz Band II: Jude Weinstein, drum set

• 9am Lake Bluff Gazebo or Fire Station (weather dependent)
• 12:30 pm LFHS Assembly in the RMA

Band students will need to arrive at school by 8:15 am

Students will be excused from:

• Early Bird and 2nd period for the LB observance
• 6th period for the school assembly

Applause is the parent booster organization for the band, orchestra, and choir programs at LFHS. We promote student recognition, awards, and scholarships; coordinate the annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser; provide dinners and post-concert treats; support BOC trips and activities; and much more!
