Dear NES Families,

End of Week 4 Update

We have enjoyed visiting classrooms this week and are so proud of what we are seeing! Students are showing strong ownership of their learning through AVID strategies and Kagan structures. They are explaining their thinking and working together to coach and support one another. We are excited to see them continuing to learn and grow!

Grandparents Day – Monday
We are looking forward to welcoming grandparents and special visitors to campus on Monday. Visitors are able to come and READ with their student only if they have a photo ID and are listed in Skyward for that student. To help with capacity and visitor management, please do not arrive earlier than 10 minutes before your student’s scheduled time, and be prepared to exit campus promptly at the end of your scheduled time.

We are excited for our students to continue growing their love of reading alongside family and friends who encourage and support them!

With gratitude and positivity,

Mrs. Jessica Lowe, Principal

Mrs. Heather Briney, Assistant Principal

We will also have approved district and school employees coming in to read with any students who do not have someone available to visit and read with them or they will be given an option to read with a buddy so that no one is left out. :)

Energy Bus Energy Bus

Energy Bus Rule #1: You’re the Driver of Your Bus 🚍✨

At school, we are learning about The Energy Bus for Kids by Jon Gordon. Rule #1 reminds us that we are each the driver of our own bus. This means we are in charge of our choices, our attitude, and the direction we take each day.

For students, it’s about understanding that they have the power to make positive decisions, to show kindness, and to choose how they respond to challenges. When children realize they are in control of their “bus,” they feel more confident and responsible for their learning and behavior.

How you can support at home:

  • Encourage your child to talk about the positive choices they made during the day.

  • When problems come up, remind them: “You’re the driver—what direction will you take?”

  • Celebrate when they take ownership of their actions and attitude.

Together, we can help students take charge of their journey in school and life—one positive choice at a time! 🌟
