Kindergarten Enrollment for 26-27 School Year

If you have a child who turns five on or before September 1, 2026, your child is eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the fall of 2026.

Important Upcoming Dates:

  • December 17, 2025: Kindergarten online registration opens for the 2026-27 school year.

  • January 14, 2026: Parents/Grown-ups, please join us at 6:00 PM in the Farmington High School Recital Hall for our Kindergarten Information Night.

At our Kindergarten Information Night, we’ll share things you will need to know about this important next step, including an overview of Kindergarten in ISD 192, what kindergarten readiness looks like, how to enroll, early childhood screening, immunization requirements, and future Kindergarten events and how we will stay connected with you between now and the first day of school to ensure a smooth start.

Proposed Elementary and Middle School Boundary Realignment Proposal

The school district has been evaluating the current elementary school enrollment and boundaries for over a year. This fall a Boundary Advisory Group was formed consisting of community members, representatives from Marschall Line, and the school district to look at potential boundary realignment as our enrollment has changed and shifted over the past 10 yrs. The group met multiple times in September and October focusing on the following desired results as they worked to balance our enrollment across 5 elementary and 2 middle buildings:

  • Maintain current walking zones at each elementary and middle school

  • Maintain current transportation costs

  • Target capacity of each elementary and school middle school at 85% or below

  • Allow for future growth connected to current and planned housing developments

  • Keep neighborhoods together

  • Balance the number of students that qualify for educational benefits across buildings to the extent possible to maintain the current level of Title I/Literacy support that each building currently has in place

  • Lessen the number of students impacted based on the factors above

Based on the desired results shared above the Boundary Advisory Group recommended the following boundary realignment to the school board on Monday, November 10. Use this link to see if your resident address is impacted by the proposed boundary changes.

As part of this recommendation all in-district transfers would be placed back at their boundary school and could re-apply to the building they currently attend if they choose. Current 4th and 7th grade students that attend their boundary school would receive “legacy” status and be allowed to remain at their current boundary school for grades 5 or 8 in the 2026-27 school year if they choose. Families that choose this option would need to provide their own transportation. Other students of the same family would need to apply for in-district transfer consideration as would any other student.

The full committee presentation to the school board can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/live/kLd42YqHsYQ?si=q8dgV9i3G_sV9T7p&t=96

There will be two community informational sessions to provide additional details and answer questions:

  • Thursday, November 20, 6:00 pm Riverview Elementary School (Multipurpose Room)

  • Tuesday, December 2, 6:00 pm Virtual (link will be posted on the district homepage the day before)

We understand that every change poses challenges to students, families and neighborhoods. Please know that each building has amazing teachers, caring staff and strong programming to support their learning communities.

Dress for the Weather!

The cold weather is right around the corner, so please...

Make sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor activities and recess every day. We believe that students should have time to play outside whenever they can. Our policy is that students will go outside to play at recess unless the temperature or wind-chill is below zero. Please send your child dressed for the weather each day - even if you think it may be an “inside recess” day. The weather can change rapidly so we want to make sure students are prepared at all times.

Wit & Wisdom Introduction Wit & Wisdom Introduction

User uploaded image

Have you heard your child saying phrases like “I notice” or “I wonder”? We hope so! These phrases are part of the Wit & Wisdom is a K-5 English language arts (ELA) curriculum in each grade level classroom. Students engage in “notice” and “wondering” to build confidence, activate prior knowledge and to take note of information and details as they read.

Wit and Wisdom builds student knowledge through content-rich texts, including literature, social studies, science, and art. Each grade level has a consistent structure with four core modules, each focusing on a specific topic over 6-8 weeks. There is a strong focus on the use of high-quality texts, integration of visual art, and deep reading and writing.

Module One Topics

Kindergarten: The Five Senses

First: A World of Books

Second: A Season of Change

Third: The Sea

Fourth: A Great Heart

Fifth: Cultural Values

Below are a few samples of text and art in the first kindergarten module.

Kindergartens are learning to label illustrations to explore letter-sound relationships. Applying this skill helps solidify foundational reading and writing skills.

Farmington High School Theater is excited to invite families across our community to this weekend’s production of Peter and the Starcatcher — a high-sea adventure that tells the origin story of the boy who becomes Peter Pan… and the beginnings of that famous black mustache belonging to Captain Hook.

Performances run this weekend only, November 21, 22, and 23, at Boeckman Auditorium in Farmington.

We’ll have two matinee shows on both Saturday and Sunday and evening performances on Friday and Saturday, giving families plenty of opportunities to attend.

This production is filled with humor, heart, and imaginative storytelling that’s perfect for students and families.

Attendance Tip!

Getting to school on time is just as important as being at school. Research shows that continued tardiness leads to poor attendance. Many of the most important parts of a student's day happen within the first 15 minutes. This is often when they have a time to socialize with their peers, orient themselves for the day, take care of necessary business, and connect with their teacher before the day starts. Never underestimate the power of the first 15 minutes of school!

End of Day Routine

Please make sure your child's teacher has an accurate, up-to-date plan for your child's dismissal at the end of the day.

When changes are needed, please communicate those changes with your child's teacher prior to the start of the school day. We cannot always guarantee teachers will see emails during the work day (as it depends on the activities they have planned with the students).

For EMERGENCY CHANGES, please communicate with the teacher and call the front office no later than 2pm. Changes to end of day routines are difficult for students and teachers. If at all possible please change YOUR routine instead of your students routine.
