MUSIC PROGRAM UPDATE
CARDINAL ALLIANCE | From Band Director Chris Coughlin
We've had a pretty special season in the Cardinal Alliance that I wanted to share with you all.
In October, we participated in the first ever marching event in SoFi stadium. Performing in a venue like that is an incredible experience that our students won't soon forget! We finished in third place overall, and second place in the music caption. The following weekend, we participated in the Bands of America Southern California Regional Championship where we advanced all the way to Championship Finals - a first for us, and a huge accomplishment! The weekend after, we competed at the Spirit of Champions tournament at Great Oak High School where we were Tournament Champions and won the caption awards for High Music and High General Effect! Finally, last weekend the Cardinal Alliance finished our competitive season at Southern Regional Championships earning our highest score in school history. On top of that, this week we presented our Fall Concert Series: JOURNEYS which featured all of our student musicians in jazz band, concert band, and choir. It was a fantastic ending to a season full of milestones!

STATE SEAL OF BILITERACY (SSB) AND AP
Being multilingual is an asset and promotes inclusivity and cultural diversity. Passing an AP World Language exam with a 3 is one of the ways to demonstrate proficiency in a second language to earn the SSB. Please view this SSB AP Exam Flyer MHHS with your students, grade 9-12. The more students know about the SSB and how to earn it, the more likely they are to earn the seal.
