IMPORTANT PARENT ACTION STEP
Board Policy JGFC – Emergency Release of Students and Dismissal Precautions establishes the district’s responsibility to ensure students are released only to authorized individuals and that accurate, current student information is maintained to support safe dismissal practices—particularly during emergency situations.
Currently, the district has approximately 17,000 enrolled students with no completed census verification on file. Census verification is a critical control used to validate student demographic information, household and emergency contacts, and authorized release individuals. The absence of this documentation represents a significant compliance and student safety risk under Policy JGFC.
Without verified and up-to-date census information, the district’s ability to:
- Confirm authorized individuals for student release,
- Execute emergency dismissals safely and efficiently,
- Communicate accurately with families during emergency events, and
- Maintain accountability during early dismissals, evacuations, or other critical incidents is compromised.
