Happy Thanksgiving
Dear Core Creek Families,
As we head into the Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to share my appreciation for our Core Creek community. This time of year reminds us how important it is to pause, reflect, and express gratitude—and there is so much to be thankful for here at our school.
I am grateful for:
-
Our students, who fill our hallways with positivity, joy, and kindness each day.
-
Our families, whose partnership and support make all the difference in helping children learn and grow.
-
Our dedicated staff, who work tirelessly to create a warm, safe, and engaging learning environment for every child.
Whether you are traveling, gathering with loved ones, or enjoying a quiet break at home, I hope your holiday is filled with rest, laughter, and moments of gratitude.
Wishing you and your families a very happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Dr. Doherty
Core Creek Mascot
Core Creek has an official mascot. We are the Core Creek Cubs! Thank you to all students, families, and staff who provided feedback to help decide our mascot!
Balloons Over Broadway
Our third graders worked in small groups to design and build their own Thanksgiving Day Parade Floats.
Each class learns the history of the NY City Thanksgiving Parade and the process/science behind the building and flying of the floats. This project concludes with students using the engineering design process to create a balloon float of their own that must be able to stand alone.
Turkey Trot
Our first annual Turkey Trot was a success! Students and staff enjoyed our time together. Thank you for your generous donations! All donations will go directly to our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. The donations will help support student rewards, assemblies, incentives, and celebrations throughout the year.
Shout out to the staff who participated in the inflatable race and congratulations to Mrs. Morecz for winning the staff race!
Kindergarten Buddies
Students in Mrs. McHugh's and Mrs. Grebe's classes partnered to complete a "buddy" activity to get ready for our Thanksgiving holiday.
Thank You to Langhorne Borough Business Association
The Langhorne Borough Business Association made a generous donation of $1000 in gift cards to go towards helping our Core Creek families during this holiday season. The donation was presented by Dawn Abbamondi (President), Gwen Roedel (Secretary), and Tim Burns (Vice President).
Thank you for your generous support!
Mr. Nesbitt's Class Reward
Students in Mr. Nesbitt's class earned a classroom reward for being respectful, responsible, and safe. Their reward was tossing pies at Mr. Nesbitt! Thank you to Mr. Nesbitt for being such a good sport!
Holiday Support for Our Community
This is a wonderful time of the year and we hope all of our Core Creek families have a happy and healthy holiday!
During this holiday season we have multiple families who are experiencing financial difficulties. While staff members and community agencies have offered their assistance, we would like to extend an opportunity to the Core Creek family to further assist those who are less fortunate. This year we will be collecting gift cards for our families in need. If your family would like to help, you can do so with our anonymous Sign-Up Genius by selecting a gift card for one of our families in need.
Gift cards will be collected through Wednesday, December 17th. They can be sent in to your child's teacher. Please make sure the envelope is clearly marked Gift Card Donation. Please let your child's teacher know if you have sent in a gift card so that we know to look for it.
In addition to the gift cards, we will be taking donations of household supplies. There will be a donation point set up in each pod from Monday 12/8 - Wednesday 12/17. If your donation is too large to send in with your child, you can drop it off in the office vestibule.
If you have any questions please click on the contact link below.
It is our wish that every Core Creek family has a joyous, healthy holiday season.
Holiday Assistance
The holiday season can be a joyful time, but it can also bring added stress for many families. If your family is experiencing financial hardship and could use support with holiday gifts for your child(ren) this year, please know that you are not alone. Our school community is here to help.
If you are in need of holiday assistance this year, please complete this form by December 9th. This information will remain confidential with Dr. Doherty, Mr. Thompson, our counselors, and school nurse.
Student Conference Day
December 12th is Conference Day
Homeroom teachers will be sending out information to families to sign up for conferences over the next few weeks. Our designated conference day is December 12th. Conferences can occur outside of that date to accommodate family schedules.
