Family Engagement Opportunity: Family Engagement Opportunity:

Cavalier Cash Available!

We are excited to announce our upcoming school-wide book read: Refugee by Alan Gratz!

Refugee is a powerful, fast-paced novel that tells the courage-filled stories of three young people searching for safe harbor across different eras:

  • Josef, a Jewish boy escaping Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

  • Isabel, a Cuban girl embarking on a raft to flee unrest in 1994.

  • Mahmoud, a Syrian boy traveling across Europe to escape war in 2015.

Although separated by continents and decades, their journeys weave together around shared themes of courage, family, and hope.

How to Get Involved at Home

We encourage you to talk with your student about the themes, characters, and real-world history explored in the book as we read together.

Earn $5 in Cavalier Cash! Students can earn $5 in Cavalier Cash by writing down one interesting fact they have learned from the book, having it signed by someone at home, and handing it in directly to Mrs. Stupar.
