🥘 Chili Supper & Craft Show
Chili Supper
Over 40 years, Linworth hosts the annual Chili Supper the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving. At this event, all Linworth families, as well as staff and alumni, are invited for a gigantic pot luck dinner.
When: Tuesday, November 24, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
What We Do: We’ll provide several pots of various chili types, including a vegetarian option. We’ll have bowls, plates, utensils, cheese, sour cream, jalapenos, and volunteer-provided rice, muffins, and drinks.
What You Do: 1. Show up and enjoy some chili.
2. Bring a shareable side dish (A-L) or dessert (M-Z).
3. Volunteer here if you’d like.
Why: Thanksgiving is a great time for family and friends to get together. Many graduates are in town. At Linworth, COMMUNITY is not just the people in the building daily, but families, alumni, and neighbors. The annual Chili Supper is a time to celebrate all of the joys of COMMUNITY.
That night, there will be voluntary donation cans and QR codes for people who would like to contribute to Parent Board, the Linworth parent organization for all families. There is also an online Silent Auction to support the Experience Fund, which helps finance experiential opportunities, like Walkabout.
Linworth Craft Show
The Linworth Craft Show is taking place upstairs during the chili supper, offering all Linworth students a chance to display and sell their handmade creations, from pottery and crochet to baked goods and artwork. Any Linworth student is welcome to be a vendor. If you are interested in participating, please complete the Linworth Craft Show Google Form, even if you have already mentioned your interest in person. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Finch Sullivan directly or by email at ls1006@wscloud.org.

Phyte Club Update
It has been a great couple of weeks in the garden! We finished harvesting 514 pounds of tomatoes as part of our research project with OSU. We also finished up our cucumber, squash and pepper harvests. At current count, we have grown 1318.5 pounds of produce this year! We fixed up the fairy garden and planted a cover crop in the food forest. We have so much more to do, though! This week, we will work to get our potatoes harvested and our garlic planted. In addition, we are hosting a garden clean up day on October 24th from 9 a.m. to noon! Volunteers are needed to clean up the urban agriculture beds, weed and mulch the labyrinth and other clean up projects. No need to RSVP, just show up and help!
Phyte Club meets on Mondays after school from 3:15 - 4:15, and students can work on projects during their open blocks at school. Everyone is welcome! Ask Monica and she will help you get connected.

Portrait of a Learner Statement of the Week
I express my thoughts clearly so others understand me.
(Confident Communicator)
You are a skilled communicator who takes responsibility for how your message is received. It involves more than just speaking; it means you consciously choose your words, structure, and tone to make your ideas easy to grasp. You organize your thoughts logically, use precise language, and avoid jargon or rambling so that your audience doesn't have to guess what you mean. This skill is critical for effective presentations, successful teamwork, and ensuring that your intentions and ideas are accurately shared without confusion.
